Business Forecasting

Bu çalışmada 31 makine öğrenmesi algoritması, 22 makine öğrenmesi metodu, 33 Python kütüphanesi, 14 özgün veri seti ile sosyal bilimlerin özellikle ekonomi, finans, işletme alanlarına dair örnek uygulamalar yer almaktadır.

Emlak piyasası, ikinci el araç piyasası, üretim-satış-müşteri süreçlerinin optimizasyonu, döviz ve hisse senedi alım-satımı için algoritmik işlemler ve al-sat sinyalleri oluşturma, makro ekonomi, seçim tahmini ve koalisyon analizi, market sepeti analizi…

Bunun yanı sıra, Python ile arayüz oluşturma, özgün veri seti oluşturmak için web sayfalarından veri “tırtıklama”, veri setlerini Türkçeye çevirme, veri görselleştirme…  gibi uygulamalar da ilaveten ele alındı.

Çalışmayı özgün kılan bir sosyal bilimci tarafından, sosyal bilim araştırmacıları ve  veriye dayalı strateji üretmek isteyen özel sektör temsilcileri için hazırlandı.

Bilimsel bir metodolojiye sahip olmasına rağmen makine öğrenmesi adeta günlük konuşma diline çevrildi. Hikâyeleştirme teknikleri kullanılarak uygulamalar anlatıldı. Eğlenceli bir dil kullanıldı.
Makine öğrenmesinin formüller ve teorik arka planından ziyade sonuçlarına ve uygulayıcı için günlük hayattaki karşılıklarına odaklanıldı. Uzun sıkıcı anlatımlar yerine şema ve görseller kullanıldı.

Few areas in economics are as controversial as economic forecasting. While the field has sparked great hopes for the prediction of economic trends and events throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, economic forecasts have often proved inaccurate or unreliable, thus provoking severe criticism in times of unpredicted crisis. Despite these failures, economic forecasting has not lost its importance. Futures Past considers the history and present state of economic forecasting, giving a fascinating account of the changing practices involved, their origins, records, and their implications. By bringing together economists, historians, and sociologists, this volume offers fresh perspectives on the place of forecasting in modern industrial societies, thereby making a broader claim for greater interdisciplinary cooperation in the history of economics.

Business Forecasting based on economic and technological forecasting has lead to serious errors in prediction of future. One of the tools suggested is social forecasting. The use of social forecasting stems from recognition that social pressures are becoming an increasing determinant for the success of any organization in the globalized economy. The various indicators indicate that the society will be experiencing a total change in next few years. Some of these changes have to be anticipated and must be incorporated in any strategic plans of an organization. This paper examines the need for social forecasting and provides frame work for analysis. Important key dimensions for better understanding of social forecasting are discussed.

Many problems exist in model building, identification, pattern recognition, approximation and extrapolation. To address these problems new techniques in data mining, like artificial neural networks, decision trees, genetic algorithms etc. have been developed and applied to analyze existing massive amounts of data and extract useful information. This paper presents a hybrid approach based on self-organizing data mining and concentrates on predictive models for business games and simulations. The results show that it is able to develop even complex models reliably and achieves lower overall error rates than state-of-the-art methods. The paper presents some of the results from international research done in Europe, Australia and most recently at Walla Walla University in College Place, Washington, USA.
