Известны три картины такого рода, а также гравюра, до нас не дошедшая, созданная в Москве в 1689 г. Автором гравюры был Лев или Александр Тарасевич (не исключено, что Александр Тарасевич и Лев Тарасевич-это одно и то же лицо, выступавшее под двумя именами); картины, по-видимому, воспроизводили гравюру. Это композиция западного происхождения: образцом для нее явилось изображение Леопольда І, императора Священной Римской империи. Вместе с тем в русском контексте портрет царевны должен был восприниматься как модификация российского герба, где традиционно в центре двуглавого орла находилось изображение монарха. Есть основания предполагать, что эти портреты были предназначены для готовящейся коронации Софьи Алексеевны 1 сентября 1689 г.

Sacred groves are ubiquitous on the cultural landscape of Ilé-Ifẹ̀ and they have been the site of most archaeological research in the ancient Yoruba city. But these studies have been driven by the view that sacred groves were places of static ritual traditions. Recovering the paraphernalia of those rituals, especially the exquisite sculptures, therefore preoccupied the pioneering archaeological research in Ilé-Ifẹ. In contrast, the historical tra-jectories that defined the evolution and transformation of these groves as dynamic cultural sites have not been undertaken. We make the case in this article that sacred groves are dynamic and meaningful sites for historical negotiation. With this perspective , we conducted archaeological study of Odùduwà Grove in Ile-Ife with the goal to understand the broad sociocultural processes that have shaped the cultural landscape of the grove across different registers of time. The archaeological evidence in Odùduwà Grove dates back to at least the fourteenth century. We focus this article on the evolution of the grove during the twentieth century with emphasis on the materiality of colonial and postcolonial modernity and its implications for rituals of royal coronation, sacrificial rites, and feasting. Résumé Des bosquets sacrés sont omniprésents sur le paysage culturel de Ile-Ife et elles ont été le site de la plupart des recherches ar-chéologiques dans l'antique ville Yoruba. Mais ces études ont été entraînée par le point de vue que des bosquets sacrés étaient des endroits de la statique les traditions rituelles. Récupération de l'attirail de ces rituels, particulièrement les sculptures ex-quis, par conséquent préoccupé le pionnier de la recherche archéologique dans Ilé-Ifẹ. En revanche, les trajectoires histo-riques qui a défini l'évolution et la transformation de ces bos-quets comme sites culturels dynamiques n'ont pas été entrepris. Nous faisons le cas dans cet article que des bosquets sacrés sont dynamiques et fructueux pour historique négociation. Dans cette perspective, nous avons procédé à l'étude archéologique de Odùduwà Grove dans Ilé-Ifẹ̀ avec l'objectif de comprendre le vaste processus socioculturel qui ont façonné le paysage culturel du bosquet à travers différents registres de temps. Les preuves archéologiques dans Odùduwà Grove remonte au moins à la quatorzième siècle. Nous nous concentrerons dans cet article sur l'évolution du bosquet au cours du xxe siècle, avec l'accent sur l'importance relative de la modernité coloniale et post-colo-niale et ses implications pour les rituels de couronnement royal, rites sacrificiels, et un festin.

The Queen Mary Psalter (British Library, Royal MS. 2 B. VII), probably made c. 1310-20 for a royal recipient, is among the most lavishly illuminated manuscripts produced in late medieval England.  This study focuses principally on a single picture in the Psalter’s Old Testament preface showing the prophet Nathan’s reproof of a repentant King David, and it identifies in that picture what is ostensibly the earliest surviving depiction of St Edward’s Chair, now commonly known as the Coronation Chair, made at the end of the thirteenth century on the order of Edward I.  The drawing and its Anglo-Norman French caption are examined for the evidence they offer concerning a range of artistic and political issues, among them the chair’s possible use in the coronation of Edward II in 1308.  This study then widens its focus to consider the depiction in the preface of a second artifact associated with the coronation rite:  the dove-topped rod or virga, held by the Egyptian pharaoh in a scene in the Joseph story.  The essay concludes with speculations concerning the messages that these two topical treatments of biblical history might have conveyed to their presumed royal reader-viewer(s) about the nature and limits of royal authority.

The article dwells on the terms otchich i dedich (отчичь
и дѣдичь) in the royal style and titles of Muscovite grand princes and tsars. This collocation of West Russian origin was adopted in the administrative language of Muscovy in the mid-14th century. In West Rus’ the phrase otchich i dedich had the same meaning as a whole as each of its components separately. Both otchich and dedich meant a hereditary lord or ruler: these words complemented,
rather than сontrasted with, each other. The pleonastic collocation otchich i dedich had the same meaning; two words of the same meaning created an amplification effect. In Muscovy, within the context of infighting for the grand-princely throne, this collocation has proven to be related to the hereditary transfer of power according
to the principle of primogeniture. In these circumstances
the phrase otchich i dedich means a legitimate linear heir that inherited the power from his father who, in turn, had inherited the power from his grandfather, etc.; a collateral heir is a dedich but not an otchich. After the power of the tsars was established and infighting became obsolete, the phrase otchich i dedich became connected
to the struggle for recognizing the Muscovite grand prince
in his capacity as the tsar and thus was not longer a factor in internal politics, but became a factor in foreign policy. By using this phrase, Russian tsars assert that they have inherited their title of tsar from their ancestors. This, in turn, opens a wide field for genealogical
mythology.

Статья посвящена выражению “отчич и дедич“ (отчичь и дѣдичь) в титуле русских государей (московских великих князей и царей). Это выражение, западнорусское по своему происхождению, в середине XV в. было усвоено в административном языке Московской Руси. В Западной Руси выражение отчич и дедич означало то же, что каждый компонент этого сочетания. Как отчич, так и дедич обозначали наследственного владетеля или властителя: эти слова здесь не противопоставлялись одно другому, а скорее дополняли друг друга. То же означало и плеонастическое сочетание отчич и дедич; наличие двух слов с одинаковым значением создавало эффект амплификационного усиления. В Московской Руси в контексте междоусобной борьбы за московский великокняжеский стол рассматриваемое выражение оказывается связанным с наследственной передачей власти в соответствии с принципом примогенитуры. В этих условиях выражение отчич и дедич означает легитимного наследника по прямой линии, получившего власть от отца, который, в свою очередь, получил ее от деда и т. п.; наследник по боковой линии является дедичем, но не отчичем. С установлением царской власти, когда междоусобная борьба перестает быть актуальной, выражение отчич и дедич оказывается связанным с борьбой за признание за московским великим князем царского титула и таким образом становится фактором не внутренней, а международной политики. Используя это выражение, русские цари утверждают, что царский титул достался им от прародителей. Это открывает широкие возможности для генеалогической мифологии.

The Vedic Ceremony of The rājyābhiṣeka or  coronation  also refers to anointing government officials, particularly heads of state, at the time of taking power or to mark a signal achievement. Coronations in Asia in the strict sense are and historically were rare, as only few monarchies, primarily in Western Asia, ever adopted the concept that the placement of a crown symbolised the monarch's investiture. Instead, most monarchies in Asia used a form of acclamation or enthronement ceremony, in which the monarch formally ascends to the throne, and may be presented with certain regalia, and may receive homage from his or her subjects.
