Cradle is an appliance which use to carry a baby and oscillate automatically with certain speed for comfort sleep of a baby. Babies sleeps sound in mosses baskets or cradle, as they afford a limited sleeping atmosphere which helps them feel secure. It's important to ensure that swinging cradle are locked when not in use or when baby is unattended, particularly as baby gets older and stronger. Most appropriate time to maneuver baby from a mosses basket or cradle to a cot is between four to six months, or until your baby starts to push up onto their hands and knees and sits unaided. There is a need to develop a advanced automated oscillated baby cradle because the existing cradles are imported and costly. This design and implementation of a new automated oscillating cradle that swings automatically and sends text messages continuously to the linked mobile numbers when baby cries with the assistance of mechatronics system is developed.

The aim of this study is to examine children bedroom furnitures “cribs”, “cradles”, “baby hammock” and “beds” in line with the development of design history. The forms of the children bedroom furnitures are discussed in the perspective of movement and design category which they belong to. The different designs of children bedroom furnitures are discussed in accordance with the development of design history such as Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Empire, Gothic, Art Nouveau, Modern Movement, Pop Design styles. Moreover, these children furnitures are interpreted in the perspective of four design form categories as crystallized (constructive), integral, energetic, organic form categories. The method of this study is qualitative research and the method of fundamental data collection is based on document analysis. In line with the development of design history, mainly museum archives and also recent resources constitute the visual and printed document of this research. In the study process; after collecting visual and printed data, the conclusions are figured out by descriptive data analysis and interpretation. After examining the children bedroom furnitures in accordance with the development of design history, results of the study show that forms of the children bedroom furnitures belong to different movements and different design categories.

This article explores the significance of the cradle given on March 1811, by the citizens of Paris for the birth of Napoleon's son – The King of Rome – by addressing the object; its designers; its user; and its socio-cultural environment. Through the inspection of the etymology and the history of the cradle; the configuration, material and aesthetics of The King of Rome's other cradles; and the 'economy of the gift', this article claims that the citizens' cradle was in fact not a throne-shaped cradle, but rather a cradle-shaped throne, representing a materialized contract between the inhabitants of Paris and their sovereign.

The major problem associated with the conventional cradle used by our society is that, it is very difficult to swing the carriage resulting in sleepless nights for parents. Besides, observation of baby movement is also difficult with this approach. So B-care comes as a solution for this problem. B-Care is a novel concept, which enables the movements of a carriage, to raise the cradle, to move the machine from one place to another, automatic movement of cradle when baby is disturbed and much more.In our concept, mechanical links are provided for moving the carriage through bearings by using a dc 12V, 17 W motor. The equipment B-care includes a dc motor, link, and an oscillating bed and sensors. The electric powered motor will actuate the links by shaft. Links actuates the rod attached to the bed at constant speed. The carriage is attached to the metal rod through springs which will provide a vibratory motion. It will also ensure the cradle motion even when the baby cries or moves using sensors. Motor, link and sensors are attached to the side of the cradle frame. High strength, light weight material is used for the manufacturing of B-care. B-care is the most cost effective, user friendly, automated mechanism for baby care in the modern nuclear family.

The Cradle (Le berceau), painted in 1872 by Berthe Morisot, was considered a modern, intimate portrait of the artist’s sister Edma. Yet its main protagonist is in fact the corporeal portrayal of infantile sleep, which represents the very hallmark of modernity, indicating progressive medicinal knowledge and hygiene awareness. The growing consumerism of sleep—reflected through the baby’s cradle, beddings, and clothing—coincided with pediatricians’ guidelines that stressed maternal responsibility over babies’ sleeping routines. The combination of these economic and medical influences designated young mothers’ to perform as “sleeping agents” while making them accountable for the orderliness, duration, and quality of their babies’ sleep.
