Everyone in this lifetime will belong to a team in one way or another, it may occur by being in a family, on a sports team, or on a team at work. Within teams, no matter the kind, there will always be some kind of interpersonal conflict that will affect relationships among the members. People were more aware of their emotions and able to use their emotional intelligence when needed, would there be a smaller risk of these relationships being broken? The aim of this essay is to explore the positive impact that Emotional Intelligence (EI) has on teams when managing interpersonal conflict. This paper will argue that conflict in teams at the workplace can provide positive outcomes when they concentrate on task issues. However, it does not have the same consequences when it comes to team interpersonal conflict. Without the sufficient EI, team members may not be aware of the different and healthier ways that conflict can be managed. It is important for individuals to be aware of this as this can impact the teams and therefore the organizations quite negatively.
