Enemy of the People

The article is devoted to the development of the theme of epidemics in popular cinema and TV series. The author briefly refers to the films "Flesh and Blood" by Paul Verhoeven, "The Tale of Wanderings" by Alexander Mitta, which contain pictures of a plague-infected castle and city. Draws attention to the actualization of the plague motive in the TV series "The Tudors", "Knickerbocker Hospital", "The Plague" (Spain, 2018). Examines the motives of bats and medical masks in modern cinema. He writes in detail about serials depicting variants of epidemics in modern circumstances - "Virus" (South Korea), "Epidemic" (Russia), "Isolation" (USA), "Cordon" (Belgium). Each of the series interprets in its own way the destruction of the civilizational order and the options for attitudes towards the epidemic of representatives of various professions and psychological types. Addressing an acutely relevant topic is a test of the creative possibilities of filmmakers, since many traditional methods of creating images of characters and familiar plot moves stop working. // Статья посвящена развитию темы эпидемий в популярном кино и сериалах. Автор кратко обращается к фильмам «Плоть и кровь» Пола Верховена, «Сказка странствий» Александра Митты, в которых содержатся картины зараженного чумой замка и города. Обращает внимание на актуализацию мотива чумы в сериалах «Тюдоры», «Больница Никербокер», «Чума» (Испания, 2018). Рассматривает мотивы летучих мышей и медицинских масок в современном кино. Подробно пишет о сериалах, рисующих варианты эпидемий в современных обстоятельствах, — «Вирус» (Южная Корея), «Эпидемия» (Россия), «Изоляция» (США), «Кордон» (Бельгия). Каждый из сериалов по-своему интерпретирует разрушение цивилизационного порядка и варианты отношения к эпидемии представителей различных профессий и психологических типов. Обращение к остро актуальной теме является испытанием творческих возможностей кинематографистов, поскольку многие традиционные приемы создания образов персонажей и привычные сюжетные ходы перестают работать.
