Forecasting of river discharge is crucial in hydrology and hydraulic engineering owing to its use in the design and management of water resource projects. The problem is customarily settled with data-driven models. In this research, a novel hybrid model which combines continuity equation and fuzzy pattern-recognition concept with artificial neural network (ANN), is presented for downstream river discharge forecasting in a river network. Time-varying water storage in a river station and fuzzy feature of river flow are considered accordingly. To verify the proposed model, traditional ANN model, fuzzy pattern-recognition neural network model, and hydrological modeling network model have been employed as the benchmark models. The root mean squared error, Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient and accuracy are adopted as evaluation criteria. The proposed hybrid model is applied to compute downstream river discharge in the Yellow River, Georgia, USA. Results indicate that the proposed hybrid model delivers better performance, which can effectively improve forecasting capability at the studied station. It is, therefore, proposed as a novel model for downstream river discharge forecasting because of its highly nonlinear, fuzzy and non-stationary properties.

The shade of color in the visible range not only depends on the wavelength but it also a function of intensity. This is vital in many applications, where color matching is highly desirable. In view of this we have made and attempt to assign some degrees to basic colors and shades around them. Since color identification by its shade a matter of degrees and involves the uncertainty. To circumvent this problem we thought of an idea of exploring the Fuzzy Logic Inference, where uncertainty in color identification can be handled via Fuzzy Sets and Fuzzy Reasoning. In this paper we communicate the development of Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) that can compute the degree for a color taking both the wavelength and intensity in to account. The results found are very interesting and degree of color varies saw-tooth fashion when visible color spectrum being scanned from one color to adjacent color. The hardware implementation is under consideration and we are proposing to build it around semiconductor color sensor PD153 and PIC 16F877.

"Reservoir flood control decisions are often compromised by various parties with conflicting benefits. In this paper, a three-person multi-objective conflict decision model is presented for reservoir flood control. In order to obtain the group decision, the ideal bargaining solution is first sought by two stages satisfying programming and then the decision alternative is chosen using the fuzzy pattern recognition. The advantages of this model are simple and more adaptable to the real problem. The model is demonstrated by application to Fengman Reservoir in China.

The microturbine generation (MTG) system are becoming the popular source of distributed generation (DG) due to their fuel flexibility, reliability and power quality. The MTG system is a complicated thermodynamic electromechanical system with high speed of rotation, frequency conversion and its control strategy. In spite of several techniques to control high speed of microturbine is not accurate and reliable due to their anti-interference problem. This paper presents a fuzzy logic controlled MTG system for grid connected and islanded mode of operation. The development of fuzzy logic based speed governor includes input and output membership function with their respective members. The load variation on MTG system is performed using conventional PI controller and fuzzy logic controller are implemented in Matlab/Simulink and their results are compared with each other. The simulation result of MTG system shows the performance improvement of fuzzy logic governor over a conventional governor.

This paper presents a theoretical prediction of selection procedure for fluid film journal bearing by incorporating fuzzy approach. In this paper a fuzzy model is proposed for selection of hydrostatic, hydrodynamic and hybrid journal bearing. Selection criteria is formulated for the choice of space requirement, total cost of bearing and load bearing capacity of the related journal bearing. This method provides a third dimension to the existing method of selection of bearing, which is dynamic and may be further refined to address to every individual needs. Therefore a fuzz y logic approach is used for decision making for selection of correct fluid film bearing

This paper provides an hybrid method for segmentation using FCM thresholding with fuzzy levelset . FCM
thresholding gives fine segmented results when compared to edge detection method. The optimization property of FCM is improved when it is combined with local thresholding. The application of Fuzzy levelset
gives enhanced segmentation results. The experimental result proves that the hybrid method is efficient in
statistical metrices that enhances the segmented results with fine regions.
