In this article, two documentaries, of rather dissimilar filmmaking quality, about the cult of San Baltazar are are analyzed. They both give an account of this festivity -January 6- and were filmed in the same chapel located in the department of Goya -province of Corrientes, Argentina- in 1964 and 2014, respectively. The two films are compared on the basis of our fieldwork experience on this Afro- Catholic cult, in order to understand the context in which they were produced. These records will be shown to bear exceptional filmic testimony to a central aspect of Afro-Argentine music, an area in need of further study.
