Since medical education gives long-standing emphasis on assessments, it seems crucial to evaluate whether our current focus on testing makes sense. This report seeks to provide an account of learning gains attained through assessments and examinations, so we evaluate the views of medical students in a medical college that optimally utilizes educational assessments. For this purpose cross-sectional study was performed in which sample was randomly selected from 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th year. The results obtained showed that most of the students found these assessments helpful in their learning process and they performed well in their professional examinations. So we conclude that assessments and examinations have a positive effect on student's learning and they should take optimally.

Digital games seem to be excellent tools for facilitating and supporting situated learning. This unbinding of knowledge from a specific context fosters its transfer to new problems and new domains. Additionally, children's attitude towards computer games is the very attitude we would like all our learners to have. Therefore, it makes sense to try to merge the content of learning and the motivation of games. The objectives of this paper are to generate insights into the practicalities and the effects of mobile game-based learning in secondary education on the development of pupils' engagement in learning (more specifically their motivation for the subject history), historical knowledge and collaborative skills. For this purpose we investigated a game called Frequency 1550. Frequency 1550 is a mobile city game in which pupils playfully acquire historical knowledge about the medieval city of Amsterdam. There have been two pilots concerning this game, one in 2005 and one in 2007...

Context: An assessment of postural control is commonly included in the clinical concussion evaluation. Previous investigators have demonstrated learning effects that may mask concussion-induced balance decrements. Objective: To establish the test-retest reliability of the Balance Error Scoring System (BESS) and to provide recommendations that account for known learning effects. Design: Test-retest generalizability study. Setting: Balance research laboratory. Patients or Other Participants: Young adults (n = 48) free from injuries and illnesses known to affect balance. Intervention(s): Each participant completed 5 BESS trials on each of the assessment dates, which were separated by 50 days. Main Outcome Measure(s): Total score of the BESS was used in a generalizability theory analysis to estimate the overall reliability of the BESS and that of each facet. A decision study was completed to estimate the number of days and trials needed to establish clinical reliability. Results: The ...

During incremental language understanding, comprehenders draw on a rich base of probabilistic cues to efficiently process the noisy perceptual input they receive. One challenge listeners face in employing such cues is that most cues are contextdependent. Here, we present an experiment that investigates the extent to which listeners learn situation-specific adjustments in the information and/or weight of the lexical bias of a verb. Specifically, we ask to what extent comprehenders are able to rapidly change their ...

The main aim of the paper was to determine the effect of green procurement adoption on procurement performance in a devolved system of government in Kenya. A case of Uasin Gishu County government. The research incorporated a descriptive survey design whereby the target population comprised of the Uasin Gishu County procurement, human resource, operations, stores, and finance departments. The researcher adopted stratified random sampling and simple random sampling to select a sample size of 11 respondents. Questionnaires were the main data collection instruments which were incorporated in both closed-ended and open-ended questions. The collected data were checked for completeness and later coded into the SPSS software version 24 where descriptive and inferential statistics were determined. The findings show that eco-design practices have a positive and significant effect on procurement performance, β 1 = 0.156, p = 0.03 and waste management control has a positive and significant effect on procurement performance, β 2 = 0.244, p = 0.004. There is need to further relook at the policies on eco-design and packaging, there is need to consider review of the practices in relation to waste management control that will enable minimizing waste as well as encourage recycling, there is also need to address the structuring and restructuring of teams that are responsible for environmental improvements and putting in place a total quality environmental management plan and implementing it, finally, proper enforcement mechanisms for product re-usability would enhance its effect on procurement performance.
