This thesis explores the works of Oscar Wilde and Will Self in order to show how the myth of Dorian Gray managed to be adapted in Will Self’s postmodernist novel. Wilde already had postmodernist thoughts before the arrival of this movement in literature, and it helped him become popular and write his famous novel The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890). This thesis aims at showing that the works of Oscar Wilde and Will Self belong to the libertine tradition and that Dorian: An Imitation is indeed a modernisation of Wilde’s Victorian novel. This thesis also lays the emphasis on the notions of aestheticism, hedonism and individualism present in these novels. Wilde and Self are both known for their infamy and their desire to provoke their readers. In their novels, Wilde and Self advocate their principle of life that is to break free from any moral hypocrisy and yield to one’s pleasures and desires; so much so that they end up shocking their audiences.

Albert Serra ha convertido su obra cinematográfica en una reflexión sobre la vejez masculina, o más bien el envejecimiento de ciertos arquetipos masculinos, a juzgar por los protagonis-tas de las películas, que suelen ser hombres ancianos: Don Quijote, los Re-yes Magos, Casanova o Luis XIV. Este artículo explora concretamente la sexualidad a partir del filme Historia de mi muerte (2013), que confronta dos de los mitos eróticos masculinos más potentes del imaginario cultural occi-dental: Casanova y Drácula. El director juega con los significados culturales y literarios de ambos arquetipos como sendos emblemas del libertino y el depredador, cuya sexualidad transgrede la moral burguesa y cristiana prepon-derante. Serra acentúa el carácter maduro de los personajes en la película, presentándolos como iconos de la sexualidad masculina senil. Además, su vejez contrasta con la representación cinematográfica típica de las personas mayores, cuya sexualidad continúa siendo un tabú.
