moreWith hills, mountains, sea, rivers and islands, the port city of Chittagong presents a unique diversity to Bangladesh. However, the city is actually suffering from the power crisis as a major portion of the electricity generated in Chittagong is being diverted to the national grid without meeting the local demands. Recently, the city is overwhelmed with power assisted pedal rickshaws (PAPRs), consuming a substantial amount of electricity daily from the national grid. It is identified that PAPRs are consuming about 1,500,000KWh per month in Chittagong. This study pin-points the energy demand and cost analysis of PAPR in Chittagong city and offers an innovative way as how to minimize the electricity consumption by PAPRS in the City. The study also delineates a detailed technical and financial analysis on solar based recharging stations for PAPRS in Chittagong.
