Marianus Scotus

The article studies a phenomenon, found in some texts from Late Antiquity and Middle Ages: a miraculous apparition of a sign of cross on clothes. Author analyzes the origins of that phenomenon, various geographical, social and political contexts in which it occurs, from fourth-century Palestine (where it seems to originate) to twelfth-century England and beyond.
