One of the puzzles which perhaps future historians of economic thought will be able to explain is why the socio-economic critics of economic theory believe that they may overcome the deficits of liberal economic thinking if they interpret the economic man (homo oeconomicus) as a undersocialised category and confront it with the oversocialised view of man in sociology (homo sociologicus).
