                                                              INTRODUCTION

In today’s world, and the at the arrival of social media giants, Google, Bing, Safari, etc., as well as humanity’s quest to create robots, we have an abundance of information available at the touch of a fingertip.  So much data yet seemingly we have to truly ask ourselves, did more knowledge bring more illnesses? Or have we just found better ways at explaining the same pre-existing symptoms.

Less than 3 decades ago, we were fighting tooth an nail to rid ourselves of what divides us, yet in the shadows dwell the lower caste of society suffering.  How do we cure this human pandemic?  How do we alter the mind to work harder in developing a strategy where all species benefit? 

We have did the religious thing and it divided us.  We have did the astrological thing and it divided us. We have did the social media mingling and it divided us. We have even gotten to the point of altering genetics and gender and still the wedge widens.  There seems to only be one area that has either been ignored or the thought is so far reaching that the vast majority ignores it or the want for technological advancements overshadows it.  That area, to holistically evolve, or rather to comprehensively transmute ourselves beyond this human paradigm we so eagerly wish to elementally redistribute ourselves trying to live. 

The “how-to’s”  been seemingly clandestinely removed from our philosophies and ideologies, and in their place remains doctrines that have lead to enslavement.  Whether to the secular thought of a destructive deity or to spiritual, mental, physical, economically, socially, institutional, or the worse, psychological imprisonment.  The desires for gadgets and contraptions, alterations of the body due to lack of self worth, and the extremes of stepping on the backs of others for self gratification, has infiltrated all faiths.

Because of this, this leads us to the proven fact that of all the negatives of society, the greatest of all enemies lie within us.  An enemy so deep rooted that without a total holistic transformation, it will only rehost and resettle itself.  Its memory is eternal and immortal and has the capacity to revitalize, rejuvenate, and recalibrate itself upon the precipice of spiritual predesignation, which materializes itself upon re-elemental redistribution.  The spiritual genetic frequencies have to be upgraded in order to gain control of the spiraling matrix of equilibrial existence.

It is here, “transforming into a higher element or thing”, where we shall begin our journey. An odyssey centering around the practicalities of evolving holistically into a higher state of existence.

The acceleration of scientific and technological developments in recent decades has brought both hope and concern for mankind regarding its wellbeing and future existence. In this context, the cultural-philosophical movements of transhumanism, posthumanism and metahumanism have had an important imprint on what currently represents the finding of alternative methods to improve human and non-human living conditions. Thus, the general objective of this paper is to analyze the three aforementioned movements, using Stefan Lorenz Sorgner's book On Transhumanism (2016/2020) as a starting point. In the first part of my study, I will emphasize some of the philosophical theories and approaches that brings transhumanism and posthumanism together in their common path towards the 'posthuman', as well as those that separate them. The second part of the paper seeks to highlight the possibility that metahumanism-and especially what Sorgner calls "weak transhumanism"-is a more appropriate approach when considering the various advanced technologies designed to improve human health and lifespan. This perspective also serves to illustrate that any advanced technologies such as bio-and nano-technology, genetic engineering etc. should first of all preserve negative freedom-in terms of achieving a good life, by adopting a pluralistic, naturalistic, non-dualistic and relational understanding of our worldly existence-merged with dynamic adaptation and critical thinking regarding the challenges revealed by these future technologies.

questa si sia evoluta nel corso dei millenni, da meccanismo pro-sopravvivenza legato all’analisi dell’ambiente naturale e dei propri simili, a strumento di valutazione e apprezzamento della composizione artistica. Indaga le analogie tra lo sviluppo del cervello nei bambini affetti da disturbi dello spettro affettivo e relazionale (autismo) e le rappresentazioni iconografiche degli uomini primitivi, dal paleolitico al neolitico.
Un’ampia sezione descrive dinamiche cerebrali dovute ai cosiddetti neuroni specchio e di come questi influiscono sull’espressione e la fruizione dell’opera d’arte, analizzando le produzioni di due degli artisti contemporanei più famosi: Damien Hirst e Jeff Koons, collegati da una complementarità culturale ancestrale, quella tra eros e thanatos, che affonda le radici nell’arte funeraria etrusca.

For those who are more, or less, familiar with posthuman theories, the volume is initiating a philosophical inquiry-by gathering together many researchers from all over the world-regarding the leading philosopher Stefan Lorenz Sorgner's book On Transhumanism: The Most Dangerous Idea in the World?!. In the following papers the readers may discover many intriguing questions related to the paradigm shift that the posthuman may bring to the present/future life of the individual. The papers cover a wide range of what transhumanism, as a philosophical/cultural movement or a thinking approach, represents nowadays. The volume encompasses both a Nietzschean approach to transhumanism-in which we may discover both the convergences and the divergences that Nietzsche's concept of the Overhuman (and not only this) brings to transhumanist discussionsas well as a cartography regarding the multiple scenarios that transhumanism reveals, in close connection to the present/future technological developments and human enhancements such as bio-nanotechnology, AI technology, climate change, moral enhancements, education, gene editing, mind uploading etc. The volume is not only an invitation to reflect on the paradigm shifts that the posthuman dimension brings into discussion, but also an introduction to the multiple concepts, philosophical theories and movements related to this field (e.g., transhumanism, transhuman, posthumanism, post-human, metahumanism/weak transhumanism, weak posthumanism). That's why, in these pages, the reader may discover that, in Sorgner's view, transhumanism, as a philosophy is linked to Nietzsche's perspectivism and non-dualist philosophy, being also grounded in the Anglo-American bioethical tradition and analytical philosophy. Another important aspect to consider is that for other transhumanist philosophers such as Nick Bostrom, transhumanism seems to be closely connected to the Enlightenment heritage in terms of its goal of achieving human perfection (Bostrom, 2005)-being thus an intensification of humanism. Furthermore, in Max More's view, transhumanism seeks the perpetual progress and evolution of human life by going beyond the current natural-biological human limitations, embracing scientific and technological developments and innovations, 'morphological freedom' and 'proactive attitude', in order to

A la fecha, la academia hispanohablante ha abordado el pensamiento
de Stefan Lorenz Sorgner analizando, casi exclusivamente, su intento de
comprender a Nietzsche como un precursor del transhumanismo. Más
allá de los alegatos a favor o en contra de tal lectura, este debate olvida
que el pensamiento de Sorgner efectivamente se ha apropiado de varias
intuiciones nietzscheanas, hasta el punto de crear su propio
transhumanismo nietzscheano débil o bien, Metahumanismo. Con este
contexto en mente, el presente artículo tiene tres objetivos específicos:
(1) ofrecer una caracterización que diferencia al Metahumanismo de
Sorgner tanto del trans- como del post- humanismo; (2) señalar cómo
se modulan las ideas de Nietzsche en el metahumanismo de Sorgner; y
finalmente (3) ilustrar cuáles son algunas de las propuestas con las que
el metahumanismo enfrenta los debates contemporáneos —una
perspectiva anti utópica y una propuesta por una educación
metahumanista—. De esta manera, el objetivo general de este artículo
es ofrecer una introducción al pensamiento del filósofo metahumanista
Stefan Lorenz Sorgner.

To date, Spanish-speaking academia has approached Stefan Lorenz Sorgner's thought, almost exclusively, by analyzing his attempt to understand Nietzsche as a precursor of transhumanism. Beyond the arguments for or against this reading, this debate forgets that Sorgner's thought has effectively appropriated several Nietzschean intuitions, to the point of creating his own weak Nietzschean transhumanism, or Metahumanism. With this context in mind, the present article has three specific objectives: (1) offer a characterization that differentiates Sorgner's Metahumanism from both trans- and post-humanism; (2) to point out how Nietzsche's ideas are modulated in Sorgner's metahumanism; and finally (3) to illustrate which are some of the proposals by which metahumanism faces contemporary debates —an anti-utopian perspective and a proposal for a metahumanist education—. Therefore, the general aim of this article is to provide an introduction to the thought of the metahumanist philosopher Stefan Lorenz Sorgner.
