, a psychologist from the State University of New York Albany, developed the mirror self-recognition (MSR) task in 1970. The mirror test is an experiment for deciding whether an animal show the ability of self-recognition to a mirror. This test is the main indicator of the development of self-awareness in non-human animals. The recent findings demonstrate that only humans, great apes, asian elephants, dolphins, orcas and eurasian magpies have passed the mirror self-recognition test. In fish, birds and several old and new world monkeys has been reported the failure of this ability. In developmetal psychology, the mark test specifies the input stage of the psychology of the children in the mirror. There are some similarities and differences between chimpanzees and human infants. Though there are studies regarding the accuracy of MSR task, it is not yet clear, whether the mark test is determinative for self-awareness.
