Mudarabah/مضاربۃ is an Arabic term of business law. Grammatically, the word Mudarabah/مضاربۃ is on the scale of Mufa`alah/مفاعلۃ . It is from the chapter of mufa`al/باب مفاعل which signifies mutual action of two persons. In business, mudarabah is a kind of business where there are two parties, otherwise qualified to enter into a contract, joining in business in the manner that one gives his capital (ra’s al-mal/) رأس المال and the other his services (i.e., the abilities, the capabilities, the capacity, the skill and the doing of all sorts of work required by such business termed as effort or labour or mihnat/محنۃ ) and they (both the partners in Mudarabah/مضاربۃ business) share the profit according as to their mutual lawful agreement. However, in case of any loss in the business it shall be borne by the person who invests capital. The jurists also call it Qirad قِرَاض. It is one of the kinds of Partnership (Shirkat/شرکۃ or Shirakat/شراکۃ MUDARABAH/مضاربۃ is a financial arrangement. It is a contract. Law of Pakistan recognizes it and defines the rights and obligations of the contracting parties and also of the third parties who are directly affected by it. Its ideal nature is that in which there is no interest open or hidden and it achieves the goal of Islamic egalitarian philosophy. The Constitution of Pakistan, 1973 also mentions in its Article 38 (f) that the State shall eliminate riba as early as possible. This is one of the Principles of Policy given in Chapter 2 (Articles 29 to 40) of the Constitution.

The study reviews and analyses the current practice of Islamic banks towards their financing from Shariah as well as socioeconomic viewpoints. The study presents statistical evidence that financing modes currently adopted by Islamic banks (in Malaysia) are based on debt based formats with negligible share given to equity based modes of financing. Debt based contracts, such as BBA, Murabahah and Ijarah appear to be the most popular, for they dominate all other modes of Islamic financing.

The current economic situation in Mexico requires companies to adopt the strategies that allow them to acquire competitive capacity, reduce their costs and increase their productivity by managing agile and slender processes all to stay in the market and provide their products and services. To this end, large companies began to adopt manufacturing methods developed in Japan that help competes in the international market, national or local, known as Lean Manufacturing. Everything starts by drawing a diagram of the value chain of the process showing all the activities carried out to obtain the product or service, costs but not value delaying the completion of the same and for that reason should be eliminated. Lean defines these activities as waste, which is presented in the production and service processes, but through the use and application of the Lean tools will allow us to eliminate them. This article proposes an improvement model based on lean manufacturing for the service process of the SME, also taking into account the literature reviewed in the state of the art, which will allow us to reduce its total time of process and as a consequence is the decrease in costs, increase in productivity, increase in profits, all this in order to place it in a competitive state, thus ensuring its permanence in the business. In the beginning, the waste identified in the process is presented to later determine the appropriate Lean tools for its elimination and finally the present VSM (current) and a future (desired) VSM of the process are traced together with a cost-benefit analysis for the implementation of the proposed tools.

Human beings are naturally inclined towards safeguarding and protecting themselves from future misfortunes. This natural tendency of risk mitigation has given rise to the concept of insurance which existed thousands of years ago and was fervently practiced by many ancient tribes. Over time, the concept of insurance has changed since it is now being commercialized and have been transformed into a profit-oriented business. To revive the legacy of the real concept of insurance, the takāful (Islamic insurance) scheme was introduced in the second half of the 20th century differentiating itself from conventional insurance practices. The takāful scheme is strictly based on Islamic law known as Shari'ah. This paper thus expounds on the concept of takāful assimilating a holistic overview of this emerging industry while sorting the differences between the takāful scheme and the conventional insurance mechanisms. It concludes that the takāful (Islamic insurance) scheme is a robustly viable...

Muḍārabah is a contract of profit-sharing known as partnership in capital and labour. Its concept and practices were notable in the history of Muslims specifically after its incorporation in the fiqh literatures that have spread to the entire education and economic institutions in the Muslim world. It combines two parties: those who have capital and those who are skilful in business to achieve a common economic objective underpinned by the Sharīʿah. This study analyses the work of al- Mabsūṭ by al-Sarakhsī (d. 483 A.H./1090 C.E.), an accomplished Hanafī jurist (fāqih) in the fifth/ eleventh century, pertaining to muḍārabah drawn from the analysis of the first chapter of the book titled Kitāb al-Muḍārabah. This study is significant as it fills the lacuna in the historiography of Islamic economic thought by focusing on al-Sarakhsī’s epistemic framework and definition of muḍārabah, as well as extending in its coverage from the individual to the institutional. It is a testimony of how Muslims conducted their economic activities based on the intellectual framework and moral guidance underlined by the Sharīʿah.

Participation banks collect participation funds for credit allocation by participation accounts and special current accounts as main function. Profit or loss offered to participation accounts on base of participation share ratio while special current accounts are considered as cost-free resources. Participation funds are used in the models that analyze participation banks' performance. Although participation fund types are not considered as variables also special current accounts. This research brings suggestions for the variables for performance analysis of participation banks for further researches.

The purpose of this study is to explore the opportunities of integrating Islamic Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility Management (CSRM) with Brand Personality concept for enhancing Mudarabah Family Takaful Model. The application of CSRM with the best practice in Islamic Philanthropy has been circulating in recent years. Since Takaful services are only provided to those, who have affordability with a good health condition. But supposedly those have inadequate and suffering from a variety of chronic illnesses, and health problems need more medical and health services. The current practice of this study is to review a practical approach in establishing Islamic Philanthropy and Social Responsibility Concept to Enhance Mudarabah Family Takaful Model in Malaysia. This study is called upon to examine how these marginalized groups can enjoy the same facilities as those who are qualified to get the services and benefits of the Takaful. The CSR Theories refer to the implementation of this model in Malaysian Takaful Industry. It is used to establish the conceptual framework of this study. Theoretically, the current study is perhaps one of the first to explore Islamic Philanthropy and Social Responsibility concept to improve the Mudarabah Family Takaful Model. Practically the study proposes to develop a new model and plan based on the dimensions of the Halal brand personality concept of Purity, Secure, Quality, Beneficial and Religious Compliance for beneficial to all people in Malaysia.

Today, it is commonly accepted fact that conventional banking fails in the fair distribution of economic wealth and in the provision of sustainable economic development. It seems almost impossible for Islamic Banking to be a strong alternative to interest-based banking with its current practice. That is the reason why the alternative financing methods of Islamic Finance should be improved. In this context, the major obstacle for Islamic Banking to be an alternative to conventional counterpart is that it confines itself to murâbaha financing. Although the Mudaraba financing model suits better to the spirit of Islamic Banking and its historic advancement, it is observed that it is nearly not practiced or cannot be practiced. The reason behind this and major problem of Mudaraba model is having lack of enough entrepreneurs and not being able to raise them. In this sense, we believe that NGOs like MUSIAD and ASKON can contribute for the enhancement of the Islamic Banking as we have witnessed that many NGOs had considerable contributions by taking important roles in the past. This process which sort of means the integration of NGOs and Islamic Banking can be carried out in three stages.

The highly-frustrated spin-1/2 quantum Heisenberg model with both nearest ($J_1$) and next-nearest ($J_2$) neighbor exchange interactions is revisited by using an extended variational space of projected wave functions that are optimized with state-of-the-art methods. Competition between modulated valence-bond crystals (VBCs) proposed in the literature and the Dirac spin liquid (DSL) is investigated. We find that the addition of a {\it small} ferromagnetic next-nearest-neighbor exchange coupling $|J_2|>0.09 J_1$ leads to stabilization of a 36-site unit cell VBC, although the DSL remains a local minimum of the variational parameter landscape. This implies that the VBC is not trivially connected to the DSL: instead it possesses a non-trivial flux pattern and large dimerization.
