<p>Lymph nodes and spleen were taken from each mouse 20 days after the last immunization. Proliferative responses are expressed as proliferation index (PI): a ratio of [3H]-thymidine incorporation (cpm) between cells stimulated with Tc52 and non-stimulated in <b>A.</b> lymph nodes cells, and <b>B</b>. spleen cells. Results are shown in box plots, line corresponds to median, boxes to 25th and 75th percentiles, and whiskers to minimum and maximum values. Results are representative of three independent experiments. *<i>P</i> < 0.05; **<i>P</i> < 0.01; ***<i>P</i> < 0.001.</p

This paper explores whether Buddhism contains any practices that can be classified as 'prayer.' With a focus on 'Kannalavva' (plaint) texts of Sri Lanka, it explores whether they can be taken as functional prayer texts. Ideas on prayer by Reginald S. Copleston, Anagarika Dharmapala, and D.T. Suzuki are discussed. Meal prayers of Theravada and Zen traditions are taken into account. The paper ends with a brief discussion of prayers of the New Kadampa Tradition of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
