Abstract: The objective of this article is to demonstrate how the inhabitants of the village of Pontal do Leste (extreme south of Cardoso Island, Cananeia, SP), through the involvements with the non-human animals and winds develop their concrete notions of the weather conditions. Non-human animals who guess the weather, making future seasonal or daily projections, are deeply entangled with the qualities of local winds, shaping fishing and domestic practices of the pontalistas (villagers). However, over the years, with the arrival of electronic media, these notions began to be contrasted with the daily forecasts produced by meteorologists and provided in the news. The second part of this description is to understand how the weather forecasts enter the village and relate in different ways to these notions.
