ABSTRACT. The present study investigated the convergent validity of the Evaluation System of Social Skills (SSRS-BR), in a sample of Brazilian children with learning disabilities, through the correlation between the subscales and global scales common to all forms of self-assessment and assessment by teachers . Participants 84 children with mental disabilities in a special school and their teachers, who responded to the SSRS-BR. The results showed that the global scale of social skills and common subscales, there was no significant correlation between the two types of evaluators. In addition, the students presented a systematic tendency to autoavaliaram more negatively in relation to teacher assessment. The study pointed to a possible limitation in the use of self-assessment questionnaire SSRS-BR as single assessment instrument for children with mental disabilities.
