Η διατριβή αυτή είναι σημαντική και μία αξιόλογη προσφορά στο θέμα τού διαλόγου μεταξύ "Ορθοδόξων και Ρωμαιοκαθολικών", σε σχέση με την Εκκλησία, τα Μυστήρια και τον οικουμενισμό. Είναι μία μελέτη άκρως επιστημονική και βαθειά πατερική και εκκλησιολογική. Προσφέρει άγνωστο υλικό για τούς πολλούς και κινείται σε ορθόδοξη προοπτική. Είναι μελέτη αποκαλυπτική και ρίπτει δυνατό φως στη σύγχρονη πορεία τού οικουμενισμού.

Με τη μελέτη τού π. Χιρς για πρώτη φορά ερευνάται τόσο επισταμένως η ιστορική πορεία τού διαχωρισμού τού Βαπτίσματος από τα άλλα μυστήρια και ερμηνεύεται, πώς αυτό οδήγησε στην "επέκταση" τής Εκκλησίας και παγίωσε ήδη μία νέα Ρωμαιοκαθολική Εκκλησιολογία. Δεν συνιστά μόνο μία επιστημονική συμβολή σε ένα σοβαρότατο θεολογικό θέμα, αλλά είναι μία εκκλησιολογικού χαρακτήρα μελέτη, η οποία συνεισφέρει στην Εκκλησία τα μέγιστα σήμερα, επειδή ανοίγει νέες προοπτικές για κάθε καλοπροαίρετο αναγνώστη είτε Ορθόδοξο είτε Ρωμαιοκαθολικό.

Η μελέτη είναι μοναδική γαι το θέμα, διεισδύοντας στον πυρήνα τής περί μυστηρίων ρωμαιοκαθολικής, αλλά και τής Ορθόδοξης διδασκαλίας. Αποσαφηνίζει, κατά τον ευστοχότερο τρόπο, τις εντελώς διαφορετικές προϋποθέσεις προσεγγίσεως και τού Βαπτίσματος από τον Ρωμαιοκαθολικισμό και την Ορθοδοξία. Με την έρευνα τού πατρός Χιρς πολλά ζητήματα διαλευκαίνονται, παλαιότερες θέσεις ανατρέπονται και νέες ερευνητικές προοπτικές χαράσσονται για μία αντικειμενική και ψύχραιμη αποτίμηση τής πορείας τού Διαλόγου και τών αληθινών δυνατοτήτων του. Le catholicisme intégriste / traditionaliste est une tendance, une forme, ou encore une modalité du catholicisme, interprétable historiquement comme une branche du catholicisme intransigeant ou de l'intransigeantisme catholique, lequel, dans une pensée apocalyptique (lutte de Dieu et son Église contre Satan et ses suppôts, précisément identifiés : francs-maçons, socialistes, libéraux, juifs, protestants…), rejette la modernité philosophique, politique, économique et sociale au profit d'une société reconstruite sur des bases catholiques par des militants organisés sous la conduite de la hiérarchie. Il est le résidu de cet intransigeantisme désormais minoritaire.

Ce livre est un recueil de documents composés par des membres du Coetus Internationalis Patrum (CIP), le principal groupe d’opposants au sein du concile Vatican II. L’objectif de cette publication est de rendre accessibles des documents difficiles d’accès et présentant un intérêt particulier pour appréhender l’histoire et les positions théologiques du CIP, ou la pensée de certains de ses membres éminents, mais aussi de contribuer à l’histoire et à la compréhension de Vatican II lui-même, parce que le CIP était l’un des groupes les plus importants du Concile et qu’il eut une influence sur les textes conciliaires.
Les documents qui se trouvent dans ce livre ont été rédigés initialement en latin (langue officielle du Concile), en français, en italien, en portugais, en espagnol et en anglais. Tous les textes écrits dans une autre langue que le français ont été traduits et cette traduction a été placée après l’original. En outre, l’ouvrage contient une brève histoire du CIP, une chronologie du concile Vatican II, un répertoire des dates correspondant aux congrégations générales du Concile, une liste des documents conciliaires, des commissions conciliaires, des commissions postconciliaires, une bibliographie des principaux travaux sur le Coetus Internationalis Patrum ainsi qu’un index onomastique.

Cet article étudie les répercussions internes des démarches amorcées par des juifs auprès du concile Vatican II, en ne considérant pas, pour une fois, leur portée bilatérale ou interre-ligieuse -- du point de vue d'une histoire des rapports judéo-chrétiens, mais les rapports de force internes au monde juif. Rabbins, associations séculières de la diaspora, diplomatie israélienne, les voix juives se revendiquant d'une capacité représentative au concile sont nombreuses, diverses, rivales voire contradictoires. Il s'agit ici d'esquisser une histoire juive du concile, non en termes de réception ou de réaction juive au concile, mais dans le but de resituer au sein de leur groupe religieux, les démarches et les motivations d'acteurs juifs au concile.

The present work purports to develop an extensive and comprehensive account of a remarkable cultural initiative. The Conversaciones Católicas Internacionales held in the Basque city of San Sebastian from 1947 to 1959 were a series of annual meetings gathering a significant group of participants, mainly from Spain and Europe. Fostered by the outstanding character of Carlos Santamaría and being endorsed by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Papal Nuncio and the Asociación Católica Nacional de Propagandistas, they stand as an interesting example on how some Catholic milieus allowed a restricted frame of freedom within the context of Franco dictatorship, taking advantage of its privileged position as Church initiatives to pose a discourse that would evolve into an increasingly critical approach towards the religious, social and political establishment.

Initially regarded as a chance for the Regime to break the threatening context of isolation in Postwar Europe, the Conversaciones would gradually constitute a forum for the debate and expression of a critical discourse which dissented from the official model of nacionalcatolicismo and reflected the increasing tensions between conservatism and reformism within the Church.

The starting point devises the state of the question that is relevant to this topic, namely the recent development of Religious History as a formal historiographical field in Spain, focusing on the debates that deal the process of construction of nacionalcatolicismo and its later discontents. The subsequent chapters aim at depicting the key contextual elements that provide sense to this kind of initiative. They also remark the essential role played by the internationalist movements of European Catholicism, as well as the certain degree of ambiguity and diversity that was inherent to the idea of Conversaciones. It outlines in a synthetic manner the key axes of discussion that articulate the development of the different editions: the Catholic discussion on Human Rights and religious freedom; the concerns of internationalism and European integration; the implications of Catholics in political questions and finally the open question of the reform of the Church. In this sense, the attached sections include a complete briefing of the content of Documentos, the official journal of the Conversaciones.

Last but not least, this works exposes the in-depth research undertaken to reconstruct the final period of this initiative, showing how its critical content bolstered the increasing opposition from several groups of the Holy See as well as the new Foreign Affairs Ministry Castiella. The tense ecclesiastical and political context of the late 50’s  to harsh letter from the Holy Office which force the suspension of the Conversaciones in 1958 and ultimately pushed their organizers to abandon.
With a complete set of personal and institutional archive resources, as well as historical journals and newspapers, written memories and semi structured interviews, this work argues the validation of two key hypothesis regarding the Conversaciones. The first takes them as a milieu that, despite its internal diversity and contradiction, allowed for a certain degree of soft dissent that contributed to the longer trajectory of a sector of Spanish Catholics towards social and political criticism. The second analyses how San Sebastian was one of the forum that witnessed the internecine tensions and unresolved questions that marked the turbulent period before the Second Vatican Council.

Pendant la première intersession du concile Vatican II (1962-1965), Mgr Marcel Lefebvre, supérieur général de la Congrégation du Saint-Esprit et président du Cœtus Internationalis Patrum (principal groupe d’opposants au sein du Concile), demanda l’aide d’un peritus privatus, l’abbé Victor-Alain Berto. Celui-ci, prêtre séculier du diocèse de Vannes, était alors en charge d’un orphelinat. Dans cet article, Philippe Roy-Lysencourt présente le parcours préconciliaire de ce prêtre en mettant en évidence les raisons qui expliquent que Mgr Lefebvre l’ait choisi comme théologien personnel, la participation de cet homme au Concile, ainsi que sa réception de l’événement.
