Purpose: The objective of this project was to investigate dietary behaviors and perceived food availability for small college student athletes. Methods: Two-hundred seventy-two student athletes from a Midwestern urban city participated in this study. Students-athletes received an electronic consent form and a dietary survey containing question about demographics, food frequency, perceived nutrition environment and food security. Results: The project indicated that athletes reported eating limited fruit and vegetables. Athletes also reported that fruit was available to them mostly as either “always” (41.9%) or “often” (25%) and responded that vegetables were available “always” (45.2%) or “often” (27.2%). Chi-Square indicated that there were significant differences between male and female athletes when reporting specific items. Conclusion: There is a need for continued nutritional tracking to understand dietary habits of small-college athletes, and whether they have the available food needed for athletic and academic success. In addition, effective nutrition interventions are needed to improve dietary intake: not only for performance, but also for health. Application in Sport: Understanding nutritional behaviors, motivators, and knowledge are essential for coaches and administrators. Tracking of dietary behaviors should allow key personnel to develop interventions for a team or identify problematic issues such as eating disorders, and injury recovery.

Knowledge of importance of nutrition is very important to athletes, for adequate knowledge will lead to proper practice of correct intake of balance diet which may enhance their better performance in their different sporting activities. This study examined knowledge and attitude towards nutrition among student-athletes of Federal College of Education (FCE), Abeokuta, Nigeria. The descriptive survey research was adopted and Systematic sampling technique was employed to select fifty (50) student-athletes for this study. Questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The study revealed that student-athletes of FCE do not have adequate nutritional knowledge, though their attitude was moderate. It was thereby recommended that sport nutrition education should be part of the athletes' curriculum to help them acquire adequate knowledge and develop right attitude towards nutrition that will help their performances.

The helping relationship represents the main scenario in which the educational counselor and tutor act to manage and successfully develop the dialogue with the disabled student-athlete in the university and the school. The dialogue occurring in this relation becomes a "helping interview." One of the prominent scholars who studied the helping interview in the framework of the helping relationship was the father of humanistic psychology, Carl Rogers. The helping interview is challenging to accomplish because it needs a specific preparatory exercise. The helping interview is always influenced by the type of subjects it is aimed at and its context. Currently, there are few studies on the topic of educational counseling for disabled college student-athletes. The purpose of our study is to review the existing scientific literature on counseling for disabled student-athletes in universities and to explore the issues involved. To better understand these issues, we conducted a case study with some disabled student-athletes we interviewed. We transcribed the interviews, analysed the qualitative data collected, and processed them using qualitative analysis software. The analysis allowed us to identify, through the drawing of a conceptual map, the needs of student-athletes. Moreover, it has allowed us to draw up a list of specific questions that, in light of the Rogerian dialogic approach to helping relationships, can be used by a counselor for the educational counseling of student-athletes both in the university and school.

This study was designed to evaluate the competency level of coaches at the higher institutions ’ sports competitions organized by the Universities Sports Council of Malaysia. Multi-dimensional model of leadership behaviors and models of coaching effectiveness were used as the basis for the theoretical framework. A total of 322 student-athletes comprising 183 (57.2%) men and 137 (44.8%) women were participated in the questionnaire survey. Researchers have adapted the Coaching Competency Scale for data collection. The results of this study indicate that the coaches’ competency level were not differ significantly by gender and performance of student-athletes, but it was differed significantly by type of sport, between team and individual sports. The information from this study may help coaches to some extent in planning strategies for coaching athletes to ensure the effectiveness of its role as a coach.
