Preparation of demonstration blocks, nurseries, arrangement of training workshops and handing over the mother plants to the local farmers of the selected agencies of Bajaur, Kurram, Orakzai and FR Region of Bannu will be done according to the standard protocols. Keeping in mind the arrangement of the seven pillars of Vision 2025 new opportunities could be created via viticulture development. Horticulture is a fast growing sector with rising exports and increasing demand in domestic and international markets. Pakistani fruits, both fresh and dry, have great potential for exports. So, the present project will also contribute in the vision of 2025 (One nation One vision) not only to help in the development of FATA but also in the development of adjacent region. It will give rise to development of industries related to Grapevines products like raisins, juices, jams etc. that will be source of new jobs and development in the region. For the alleviation of poverty by enhancing the socioeconomic status of FATA people through viticulture development, we will further extend our work via developing a new project to extend our work to the remaining agencies like Khyber, Mohmand and Waziristan etc. The selected potential and successful varieties of grapes will be introduced for nurseries development and handing over to farmers of the FATA region in future as mother plants.

La frutticoltura siciliana è fortemente caratterizzata da alcuni
aspetti che ne sottolineano la storia, l’estrema variabilità ambientale,
quindi la diversa vocazionalità, la presenza, ancora
vivissima, di un copioso germoplasma locale e, infine, la rilevante
vocazione a produrre frutti di alta qualità. In Sicilia, non
volendo considerare agrumi e olivo, sono presenti tutte le
filiere frutticole, da quelle tipiche delle zone temperato-continentali,
melo e pero, alla frutta secca, mandorlo, nocciolo
e pistacchio, a quelle delle aree più temperate o mediterranee,
pesco, susino, ciliegio e albicocco e uva da tavola, e,
infine le specie subtropicali o tropicali, ficodindia, mango e
litchee. Questo mosaico di per sé complesso, lo è ancora di
più in termini di distribuzione territoriale. Coesistono, infatti,
areali fortemente specializzati, tanto da godere di certificazioni
IGP o DOP, come quelli dell’uva da tavola (Canicattì
e Mazzarrone), del ficodindia (S. Cono, bacino Etneo,
S. Margherita Belice e Roccapalumba), e, in misura diversa
del pesco (areali di Leonforte, Bivona, ma anche Alcantara,
Riesi e, in genere colline interne) e areali a vocazione mista,
come quelli destinati al mandorlo, diffuso in diverse aree del
territorio regionale. Difficile, quindi, trarre delle considerazioni
di carattere generale. Una fra tutte, però emerge, ed è
la carenza di infrastrutture di servizio, in particolare legate
alle porzioni apicali della filiera, il vivaismo da un lato e le
centrali ortofrutticole per la lavorazione e conservazione dei
frutti dall’altra. Un moltitudine di operatori commerciali e di
OP non aiuta la caratterizzazione dell’offerta e non ha, fino
ad oggi, favorito l’omogeneizzazione dei modelli produttivi,
della qualità del prodotto, oltre che lo sviluppo di un’assistenza
tecnica specializzata. Ciononostante, si raggiungono
in alcuni casi livelli di assoluta eccellenza: è il caso dell’uva
da tavola, ma anche delle produzioni tropicali e subtropicali.
Chiudiamo con un’esortazione: nessuna innovazione ha senso
se non è accompagnata, se non preceduta, da una forte
spinta alla cooperazione degli imprenditori agricoli che devono
comprendere la necessità di costruire, d’intesa con il
mondo della formazione anche universitaria, una classe di
tecnici capace di supportare ogni ulteriore ipotesi di sviluppo

A field study was conducted during six seasons (2004–2009) to assess rootstocks effects over yield in three table grape cultivars (Thompson seedless, Flame seedless and Red Globe). Nine commercially available rootstocks (Couderc 1613, Freedom, Harmony, Paulsen 1103, Richter 99, Richter 110, Ruggeri 140, Saint George and Salt Creek) plus a control treatment (own-rooted vines) were evaluated under semiarid conditions of northern Chile. A multivariate analysis approach consisting of principal components analysis and cluster analysis was used to segregate those rootstocks with similar influence within each cultivar scion. Three significant clusters were found in Flame seedless and Thompson seedless, while Red Globe showed four significant clusters. Analysis of variance were conducted to evaluate differences in fruit yield, pruning weight, budburst, fruit set, bunch weight, berry weight, berry diameter and rachis weight between rootstock clusters. All rootstocks but Saint George increased yield in Flame seedless, while Salt Creek was the only rootstock with positive effects in Thompson seedless. The use of either Couderc 1613, Freedom, Harmony, Paulsen 1103 or Salt Creek was recommended in Red Globe. This is the first mid-term study with a multivariate analysis of yield components in three table grape cultivars evaluating nine rootstocks in semiarid conditions.

Color and other quality parameters of “Redglobe” grape (Vitis vinifera L.) berries were evaluated after treatment with brassinosteroid (BR) analogs. Three BRs analogs (24-epibrassinolide, Triol, or Lactone) were applied at three concentrations (0.0, 0.4, or 0.8 mg⋅L-1), at the onset of veraison. A commercial formulation (B-2000®) was also applied, at a recommended rate of 0.06 mg⋅L-1. The tested BR analogs were effective improving berry color (evaluated as color index for red grapes, CIRG), increasing the levels of soluble solids and anthocyanins, and changing the types of anthocyanins present without altering other quality and yield parameters. The effects of BR analogs on color enhancement could be explained by an increase in soluble solids content and/or anthocyanin content. Treatment with 24-epibrassinolide (at 0.4 mg⋅L-1) or the commercial formulation tended to favor the production of dihydroxylated anthocyanins, which are responsible for the red and pink colors of grape berries. Results indicate that the use of BRs constitutes a potential tool in the production of table grapes. This is the first report of this enhancement effect in a productive context.

A two-years (2019 and 2020) field experiment was conducted on six-year-old "Crimson Seedless" grown in a commercial farm at El-Khatatba area, El Sadat city, Egypt, to investigate the effect of applying deficit irrigation on produc tivity and the quality from veraison to harvest. Four irrigation levels were applied from veraison to the end of harvest as the control, bas ed on actual crop evapotranspiration (ETo): 100% ETc (control), 80% ETc, 60% ETc and 40% ETc. As for yield, it was c lear that the 100% ETc irrigation treatment recorded the greatest yield and berry parameters (berry diameter and berry firmness).I n contrast, berry weight was increased by the 60% ETc irrigation treatment compared with other treatments including the control. The results indicated that decreasing the irrigation levels from 100% ETc to 40% ETc until harvest, enhanced berry color and TSS, but acidity was increased by the 100% % ETc irrigation treatment. Results suggested that pre-harvest deficit irrigation at 60 % ETc, would be the best technique to advance 'Crimson Seedless' fruit pigmentation and quality attributes with a slight effect on yield and berry parameters.

COMPARATIVE SITUATION ANALYSIS FOR TABLE GRAPE MARKETING: MANISA/TURKEY AND PALERMO/ITALY SAMPLE ABSTRACT A situation analysis should be performed to determine the situation of the enterprises, internal and external environmental factors, and to specify aims and objectives related to the marketing activities. Situation analysis for table grape marketing was dealt with in Manisa and Palermo, two major table grape production regions. The aim of the research was to determine the current situation for the development of table grape marketing strategies in Manisa and Palermo / Sicily. The case study is a qualitative research model that was used in this study. In order to obtain the data, firstly the related literature was examined and SWOT analysis was conducted using face to face interviews with a total of 10 producers and 9 academics / researchers (Palermo University Department of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences and Manisa Viticulture Research Institute) who are studying on the table grapes in Manisa and Palermo. According to the findings, there has been a grape growing culture for many years in both cities, because of the appropriate environmental conditions and the quality of grapes produced. In addition to these strengths, there are some weaknesses. For instance, inadequate product and grape variety supply for market, the financial inadequacies for the researches, farmers unwillingness towards the innovations. It has been determined that the EU market for Palermo has a better opportunity in terms of the target market and price, but the limited number of varieties and high production rate of competitors from other regions are threats. Suggestions about the marketing of table grapes were presented for both production regions in the context of the findings. For example, without losing the existing table grapes genotypes, efforts on developing and popularization the precious varieties appropriate to consumer demands should be accelerated. Mobile marketing might be a beneficial tool for the marketing of table grapes. Traceability of agricultural products provides advantages in marketing and all stakeholders in the sector should be trained and informed on marketing processes. İşletmeleri etkileyen iç ve dış çevresel faktörlerle işletmelerin hangi konumda olduğunu ve pazarlama faaliyetlerine ilişkin amaç ve hedefleri belirlemek için durum analizi yapılmalıdır. Sofralık üzüm pazarlamasına yönelik durum analizi, iki önemli sofralık üzüm üretim bölgesi olan Manisa ve Palermo/Sicilya şehirleri kapsamında ele alınmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı, sofralık üzüm pazarlama stratejilerini geliştirmek için Manisa ve Palermo/Sicilya şehirlerinde mevcut durumun tespit edilmesidir. Nitel bir araştırma modeli olan durum çalışmasından yararlanılmıştır. Rakiplerin çeşit sayısı ve yüksek kapasiteleri tehdit olarak belirlenirken Palermo için AB pazarının hedef pazar ve fiyat açısından iyi bir fırsat olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Potential of brassinosteroids (BRs) as a preharvest treatment on hastening maturity and improving berry quality of table grape cv. Flame Seedless was investigated during two consecutive crop seasons of 2012 and 2013. The study was performed on 12-year old own rooted, Flame Seedless grapevines planted at 3 m x 3 m spacing trained on overhead system. Vines were treated with aqueous solutions of BRs (0.0, 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 mg l-1) at 2 weeks after fruit set, and at colour break stage. At commercial maturity, clusters were harvested and physico chemical properties were analysed. Clusters treated with 1 mg l-1 BRs attained veraison 3 days earlier and significant increase in cluster and berry weight, length and breadth was observed when vines were sprayed with 0.5 and 1.0 mg l-1 BRs. All three concentrations of BRs increased berry firmness while the highest firmness was observed in berries received 0.5 mg l-1 BRs.
