Es socio ordinario de OPIFER - Organization of Italian Psychoanalysts Federation and Roster.
Title: The unwelcome child and the mother. Mechanisms of introjection and incorporation. by Gianni Guasto (Genova, Italy).

The topic of “the unwelcome child” represents only one of the revolutionary contributions which Sàndor Ferenczi added to psychoanalysis.
After 60 years of oblivion, the paradigm regarding the environment of the child’s development turned up to be extremely rich of suggestions concerning the treatment of serious disorders that belonged to child and adult’s clinical psychology; a paradigm so rich that it involved a complex pathologies such as panic attacks and child psychosis.
The lecture will focus the centrality of the above mentioned ferenczian paradigm in the work of the psychotherapist, particularly as far as the topic of introjection and incorporation is concerned.
The presence of “foreigner transplantations” in the mental organization of the child and the young adult will constitute the subject matter of some clinical vignettes.

Ferenczi has been defined the author of a “clinical revolution”, because many paradigms,
in his thinking, differ considerably from the Freudian ones. Technique is generally considered to be
Ferenczi’s main concern. However, a wholly new metapsychology may be discerned in his
writings. In this paper the author addresses three Ferenczian paradigms. He establishes
connections between welcome at birth, trauma and introjection. This pathway reflects a view of
development essentially different from the Freudian one, starting from the innate need for a
primary loving relationship, then focusing on the impact of trauma and identification with the
aggressor. Finally, the relational paradigm is viewed as the foundation of the therapeutic
relationship.

Abstract English - Italian:
The theoretical contribution of Sándor Ferenczi to psychoanalysis has proved how a bad welcoming by the family environment, for a newborn child, damages the sense of attachment to life and favour the “death instinct” to prevail. In this paper, which goes on with a reflection started in previous works of his, the Author – after having examined the premises which up to him set up of a “good enough” and “welcoming” family – explores the relationship between parents negligence and exogenous trauma and comments two clinical cases of she-children, sexually abused in the family in their initial childhood.
