Tiny, Ontario

When deciding whether to become an Airbnb host, it is important for you to understand the laws in your region or city. As a platform and online marketplace we do not provide legal advice, but we want to provide resources that may help you better understand applicable laws and regulations. This list is not exhaustive, but it may give you a good start in understanding your local laws. If you have questions, visit the short-term rental homepage or other government agencies directly, or consult a local lawyer or tax professional.

Actions required by hosts

  1. Apply for a short-term rental licence
  2. Complete the required documentation and payments, outlined in greater detail on the local website
  3. Schedule a township inspection by contacting the Fire Department for an onsite inspection
  4. Once you’ve been approved, you will need to add your licence information to your listing(s) to complete the process

Short-term rental regulations

Hosts in the Township of Tiny are required to obtain a licence for their short-term rental accommodation. Tiny defines short-term rentals as the rental of a dwelling unit, or part of a dwelling unit, for any period of time that is less than 30 consecutive days.

For more detailed information on short-term rental permitting requirements in Tiny, Ontario, please visit the official municipality website here or view the ordinance here.

Payment

At the end of the application process, you will be required to pay the non-refundable Application Fee. The cost is available on the township website.

Renewing your registration

The renewal process will be very similar to the original application whereby applicants will confirm or fill in specific fields and upload documents. More here.

Other contracts and rules

It's also important to understand and abide by other contracts or rules that bind you, such as leases, condo board or co-op rules, HOA rules, or rules established by tenant organisations. Please read your lease agreement and check with your landlord if applicable.

Our commitment to your community

We are committed to working with local officials to clarify how local rules impact the community. We will continue to advocate for changes that will enable people to rent out their homes.
