Publisher's summary

In the year 2050, Earth makes first contact. By 2052, the war is over. We lose.

Soon after the generation starship Pioneer leaves Earth's orbit, the ship is struck by a rogue asteroid. At first, Captain Tyson Grant believes the accident is minor. But when a by-the-book investigation of the damage ends in disaster, he realizes he was wrong.

Very, very wrong.

With the ship suddenly in grave danger, Tyson turns to Sergeant Joseph Cross and his team to bring the situation back under control. As the nature of the threat becomes more apparent, what once promised to be an uneventful journey across the stars descends into a desperate fight for survival. A fight that leads both Tyson and Joseph to realize that the greatest menace to humankind's future may not be the unknown, but themselves.

And some terrors are impossible to escape...

If you like your sci-fi with a healthy mix of action, thrills, chills, plot twists, and characters you'll both love and love to hate, don't miss Exodus, the first novel in the Forgotten Starship series, a gripping new military science-fiction epic from million-copy best-selling author M.R. Forbes.

Wrong choice of narrator!

I love this author, and all of the other books in this series, but what in the world was he thinking with this narrator?? Horrible, just horrible. Please don't do this to your fans again!!

Loved the story, not so for the narrator

In typical Marco fashion, a good blend of character study and action that pulls you in. However the narration was a distraction. He made the captain sound condescending. He only seemed to be able to bring the right approach to the governor. I will continue the series for the story line in spite of how I feel about the narration.

Good story, horrible narrator

Horrible narrator. I couldn't finish the book. I've read all the others in the Forgotten Universe so it's incredibly disappointing that this series is narrated so poorly.

Way too convuluted for most readers

I listen a lot of Science Fiction from Audible and have a tolerant, broad spectrum of tolerances. I also happen to love most of M.R. Forbes books. This book started really well and grabbed my interest quickly during the first 10%. BUT after a great start, I had a hard time keeping up with all the 'terrible' things that were happening to this lowly starship from earth. Evidently, using several alien type to muddy up the store wasn't enough. Then the story kept getting more convoluted as it progressed. This, by the way, was made much worse by the 2nd book in the series, which I found out too late. I am sad to say I would not recommend this series to anyone who doesn't like suffering.

Good series, bad characters

love the others part of the series but the voice acting and some of the characters were a swing and miss on this one. Trying to make the Levi character a bad guy made no sense. He had every right to be pissed to homicide. The military has no honor if they won't fulfill their promises to those who give everything. The people who had nothing they were responsible for in metro wanted to kill him for expecting the promise to be honored so he could do the most important thing, being a father. That situation alone made Grant and Joseph the bad guys for me. Ruined.

Great story! Horrible narrator

Within the first 5 minutes I already knew I was going to hate listening to the narrator. The story was great but man this guy reads this whole book like he's reading to a 3 yr old. Action scenes are so gentile, and then when he speaks a woman's part they talk like they are speaking to a child. It's pretty annoying but I wanted to hear this story before I start forgotten series.

Unable to finish

Made it all most 7.5 hours in. The concept is interesting, but the story is poorly delivered. Didn't appear to have gone through any editorial review. Dialogue sections that were groan inducingly stilted, inconsistent application of it's own sci-fi concepts, and a lack of application of grade school physics. I just couldn't. I do hope the authors future works are better, I see real promise there.

An act of will

The storyline in this book is labored at best, insipid at worst. With a good reader/narrator it probably would have fared better, but character development, or rather lack of development, would still be a problem. I find it impossible to believe the captain of a starship would be so woefully ignorant of the basics, the layout of his ship, the chief personnel on the bridge, and even considering the massive loss of protective personnel in their launch and initial flight, that he would not have immediately undertaken a training program to correct it.
The narration…one word, terrible. I’ll not be wasting anymore audible credits on anything read by him. He got a one star rating only because I couldn’t give him less and post the review.
