Publisher's summary

From the author of ebook number one best seller and Sunday Times top 10 best seller After Anna.

A serial killer is stalking your hometown. He has a type: all his victims look the same. And they all look like you.

Kate returns from a post-break-up holiday with her girlfriends to news of a serial killer in her hometown - and his victims all look like her.

It could, of course, be a simple coincidence. Or maybe not. She becomes convinced she is being watched, followed even. Is she next? And could her mild-mannered ex-boyfriend really be a deranged murderer? Or is the truth something far more sinister?

Waaaay too long but good story!

This author drags his novels out way too long. He spends hours and hours boring us to death until finally the story gets good. The thing is that then it’s really good so if you’re willing to wait five or six hours you’ll probably enjoy this book.

Good story and climax

I really liked the build up of this story. There are points of view from the present and the past and while I figured out the truth fairly early, I still thoroughly enjoyed how it was revealed as well as the aftermath. A good thriller and story in my opinion.

A must read...

Starts out slow, but then grabs you to the end. I highly recommend this book and the audio too!

DISAPPOINTED

It was indeed a struggle to finish. What was probably a strong story outline was lost in character development. Middle school naivete (1950s style)
and heroic fantasy broke my interest down completely. I'll avoid this author in fture.

Good read, little slow and missing parts

The book was narrated beautifully. The book was overall great however I feel as though there were a few missing links at the end.

I don’t know if I’m the only one that got the vibe that Beth and Kate were secretly in love and that’s why they both had difficulty with men in general, monsters or flat out boring slash stalker but lovable men.

Also the parents of the monster could have been explored more. Maybe hopes for a sequel ?? I hope so.

The parts of tension were good but dragged on a bit. All in all I enjoyed and I still love this author.

Decent suspense thriller makes the mark

Killing Kate is about a 28 year old lawyer who has just broken up with her boyfriend. The boyfriend is taking pretty hard, but Kate is ready to move on. She meets a man who has the ability to draw her in, and things seem good until a recent string of grisly murders in her own backyard threatens girls her age- who look a lot like Kate. In a race against time, Kate needs to protect herself from danger and doesn't know who she can trust anymore.
This book started out a little trite but gradually hooked me. The storyline became more sophisticated and the characters well drawn out. Kate does not come off as too naive or trusting- you can identify with her situation and see that she makes educated decisions that sometimes just bring her closer to danger. I enjoyed seeing the close friendships between Kate and her long-standing group of friends who have her back. The suspense started to build pretty quick until I was holding my breath at the end to see whether the killer would be caught in time to save Kate! The narration was great and overall, while this book may not be a heavy-hitter, it was well written and enjoyable, and I would recommend it as an easy-to-read page turner!

Mixed review here

I loved this book until the killer's identity was revealed, with about 2 hours of listening time left. I found the storyline extremely tense, fast-paced, and suspenseful, with nuanced characters. I wish the book had ended there. I suppose that what remained was meant to evolve into a dramatic climax. Unfortunately, I found it formulaic and almost silly. Overall rating: 3.5 stars rounded up.
