Publisher's summary

Watch Silo, the new Apple TV+ sci-fi series starring Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Robbins, starting May 5th, 2023!

The first book in the acclaimed, New York Times bestselling trilogy, Wool is the story of mankind clawing for survival.

The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: they are allowed to go outside.

After the previous sheriff leaves the silo in a terrifying ritual, Juliette, a mechanic from the down deep, is suddenly and inexplicably promoted to the head of law enforcement. With newfound power and with little regard for the customs she is supposed to abide, Juliette uncovers hints of a sinister conspiracy. Tugging this thread may uncover the truth—or it could kill every last human alive.

Edoardo Ballerini is the best narrator on Audible

I have become so disappointed in narration of so many books, I now search my next audio book by narrator. Every author should fight to have Edoardo Ballerini. He delivers another 5 star performance. This isn't normally the genre that I listen to, but gave it a go because of EB. This was a really interesting audio book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend. Please have EB narrate the rest of this trilogy!

Read before watching the show!

So glad I got this before the show dropped. The show looks like it'll be amazing, but as they always say, the book is always better!

A favorite new author

A really special story! Great pacing and kept my attention like many other books have failed. REALLY enjoyed this read and can't wait to pick up the next two books in the series.

Great book

Watched the first 3 episodes on apple+ and immediately wanted to listen to the book. It was great and I have already downloaded the second book to continue the Silo series.

Great book

I enjoyed listening to this audio book very much. The narrator was very good with doing different voices and was very easy to listen to. The story itself was very interesting as well. I am looking forward to list to the rest of the trilogy!

Page turner

I felt very connected to characters right away and some of them have very surprising deaths which which is almost a drag because they’re so well written, but it keeps it interesting and definitely moves the story along in unexpected ways. I’m definitely hooked. Downloading book too immediately. Gotta find out who else dies. Love this book.

Couldn't put it down

I read these not long after it first came out when all the short stories were out together. It loses nothing from being narrated, save for my own attention span. I can't recommend it enough. It's such a well written piece of fiction. Very entertaining, and emotionally engaging. Well done.

Perfect storytelling and performance minor technical glitches in my audio file

Why can humankind not absorb lessons from our predecessors? From Moses’s Book of Genesis on, humans get offered Paradise or a working solution to patch up humanity and our planet, then sooner than later, it ain’t good enough. Some malcontents want something different at the cost of screwing everyone else’s contentment up with their rebellion.
The silo seems like a good plan. Great story. I like the heroes and villains. The ride up and down Kurt Vonnegut’s graph kept me listening along with Hugh’s writing. It’s so descriptive, I quit getting pissed off at humanity and enjoyed the piece of art.
If we cannot learn together in real life, you’d think a writer’s science fictional world might come up with a unifying solution. I hope a follow up is as good.

I do not often rate high

But aside from what I felt was a bit gratuitous body count, this story is original, captivating, and had me listening until 2am and only the sandman could make me pause. We’ll done.
