During a 1972 expedition, a mountain climbing team in British Columbia, Canada, was forced by inclement weather to pause its ascent. Team members reportedly passed the time by reading The Lord of the Rings until they could finish the climb. As they were the first to ascend those mountains, they got to name them, opting for Mount Aragorn and Mount Gandalf.
