In the 8th game of the season the team had to play lower-placed Finland. Finland had trouble getting together four players, with talk of games at different days and times, but in the end it was only board one that started early and the UK had to quickly find a reserve player as one of the selected team thought there was no game for them. The match ended a draw leaving the UK in fifth place, with just one match to go, against Switzerland on 13th May.

The UK youth Go teams in two different European leagues co-incidentally both played Germany last week.

In the Pandanet European Youth Go Championship the match was very even in terms of grade on most boards other than board 5 where we had a 3 grade advantage. Lukasz Kudla duly took a win on that board - although the game was not without excitement as he lost a group early on but went on to kill an extremely large group that went across the board giving him a 41 point win. I am happy to announce that Craig Maclean from the Durham club has volunteered for the above role. He comes highly recommended, having done a similar job for the Durham club for some time now. In particular their use of social media has resulted in many more students returning to the club after their first visit.

Craig will be settling into the role over the next few months, and will be looking to issue a regular stream of informative social media content. Exactly how this will operate will be explained in subsequent communications.

We wish him every success.

The 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held online by ZOOM at 20:00 on Thursday 22nd May 2025. A meeting link will be issued shortly before the meeting.

As well as presenting the Accounts and the Annual Report, the AGM will include all the necessary elections for Officers and Directors as set out in the Company Articles, and for members of the Disputes Panel as per the Code of Conduct. Motions may be brought both by the Board and by members.
