Reviews
"Katrin Roots's thoroughly researched and groundbreaking book expertly challenges conventional understandings of human trafficking in Canada. By critically analysing a range of empirical data, Roots uncovers how police, lawyers, and judges enforce and interpret anti-trafficking laws, and in doing so, legitimize a powerful 'human trafficking matrix' based largely on sexist, classist, and racist stereotypes. This in-depth and compelling legal analysis is both urgent and timely." --Emily van der Meulen, Professor of Criminology, Toronto Metropolitan University "Filled with nuanced analysis and exciting insights, The Domestication of Human Trafficking is a must-read for anyone interested in human trafficking or sex work in Canada. Drawing on her meticulous empirical research, Katrin Roots examines how trafficking is constituted in Canada while deftly unpacking the classed, raced, and gendered roots of the sex work/trafficking conflation. In the process, the author sheds much-needed light on the multifaceted impacts and implications of normative frames. Remarkably - particularly given how complex the terrain and how textured the analysis - the book is accessible and highly readable." --Chris Bruckert, Professor of Criminology, University of Ottawa

Synopsis
Human trafficking has emerged as one of the top international and domestic policy concerns, and is well covered and often sensationalized by the media. The nature of the topic combined with various international pressures has resulted in an array of government-led mandates to combat the issue. The Domestication of Human Trafficking examines Canada's criminal justice approaches to human trafficking, with a particular focus on the ways in which the intersecting factors of race, class, gender, and sexuality impact practice. Using a wide range of qualitative and empirically grounded research methods, including extensive analysis of court documents, trial transcripts, and interviews with criminal justice actors, this book contributes to much-needed research that examines, specifies, and sometimes complicates the narratives of how trafficking works as a criminal offence. The Domestication of Human Trafficking turns our attention to the ways in which the offence of human trafficking is made on the front lines of criminal justice efforts in Canada., This book explores how Canadian courts adapt international human trafficking laws, while also examining how trafficking cases are policed and prosecuted, defended, and judged., Human trafficking has emerged as one of the top international and domestic policy concerns, and is well covered and often sensationalized by the media. - l***c (227)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéBook came packaged well to avoid damage, in great condition. Not sure if the seller delayed shipping or if usps didn’t update the shipping, which is highly likely. Still received and we are happy with our purchase. I had trouble looking up tracking due to the company they used but seller found usps tracking and sent that over quickly. Sellers communication was excellent. Would buy from again. Item as described.
- t***n (2951)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéI don't give negatives; However, description was not correct; No price guide was included in this book.As you will see in book pic shown; title states price guide included, no price guide inside. Communication poor, description, no communication price guide missing from this book. Shipping time was weeks before it was even shipped. Blamed the shipping on warehouse. You own & operate a business; your warehouse is not up to standards you change who you do business with. It's your responsibility.
- -***6 (136)- Évaluation laissée par l'acheteur.Six derniers moisAchat vérifiéItem arrived as described and adequately packaged. Ridiculously long shipping time. Seller posts incorrect tracking number and lists the item as shipped. Contacted seller for correct tracking, received a new tracking number with the warning that the number won’t be “live” until the item is shipped. Will you get your item? Yeah, probably. Count on it being delivered 2-3 weeks longer than expected.Wyrd Sisters: Discworld: The Witches Collection by Terry Pratchett (English) Har (#362516846783)
