SOFTWARE
A wide range of software options are available to the Clemson GIS community and are tailored to meet specific needs. We support users of various GIS platforms, including the ArcGIS Suite, Google Geo tools, and open-source software packages.
ArcGIS Suite
Clemson University maintains a campus-wide Education Institution Agreement with Esri, the maker of ArcGIS. The availability of licenses and the permissible uses of Esri’s software and services are determined by two primary categories:

Academic use: For teaching, learning, service-learning, and scholarly research.

Administrative use: For asset management, facilities management, enrollment management, institutional research, emergency management, and other tasks related to the operation of the university.
While most products are available for both academic and administrative uses, there are some differences in how they may be utilized and the number of licenses available. For more details, please refer to the respective product pages. Below are some of the most popular ArcGIS products.
This 64-bit desktop application lets you render and process your data faster than ever. Design and edit in 2D and 3D, work with multiple displays and layouts, and publish finished web maps directly to ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS.

Open Source
CCGT staff members can provide training and support to users with open source GIS software. These open source options promote universal access via free licenses and offer effective GIS tools for mapping and analysis. Common open source GIS software packages are QGIS, GeoDA, GRASS, GDAL, and R, among others.

Google Geo Tools
Google has developed many powerful applications to search, explore, and analyze our Earth through Google Geo Tools. Using these tools can offer familiar and user-friendly solutions and references for your spatial analysis and geographic needs.
Applications available are Google Earth, Google Maps, Google Earth Engine, and Google Maps APIs.
Other Tools
Our team of experts can help you with a variety of software and tools that will complement your fundamental GIS research. From cleaning data tools such as Open Refine, all the way to advanced parallel processing with R and Python.
In addition, Clemson University has licenses for the following processing software, which are available in GIS Lab computers.
