Review articles should be addressed to a broad audience and designed as comprehensive as possible. They should present not only a summary of the current status of the selected subject, but also new critical insights. Reviews are organized as follows: Abstract, Abbreviations, Table of Content, Main Body of the Manuscript, Conclusion, Acknowledgements and Conflict of Interest. Supplementary material is not recommended, but can be accepted.

Focused reviews/Perspective articles should highlight a cutting edge research topic. Perspectives present author's opinion on future developments related to a specific topic. Usually, these are invited manuscripts. However, we are also encouraging uninvited submissions.

Experimental articles (EA) are of 4 types (EA1-EA4, see below) and should be organized as follows: Abstract, Abbreviations, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusion, Acknowledgements and Conflict of Interest. Supplementary material is reserved only for information that is not critical for understanding of the manuscript. While for EA1 articles we require at least 4 multi-panel figures, EA2, EA3 and EA4 should include at least 3 multi-panel figures.

EA1 present significant advances within a specific field of research related to the aims of the journal.
EA2 are experimental articles that validate/invalidate highly used reagents in current publications (such as antibodies).
EA3 selected experimental articles presenting negative data with impact and of wide scientific interest.
EA4 brief experimental reports: shorter than EA1, present significant advances within a specific field of research related to the aims of the journal.

Editorials present viewpoints of the editors, comment on a specific article previously published in DISCOVERIES or DISCOVERIES REPORTS, or are related to other scientific topics (such as politics of science).
