This is THE Joni Mitchell album. Long before she was the wonder of the music world she has become this album created her huge body of fans (we'd met her on The Dick Cavett Show on one of the nights of THE Woodstock Festival when she flew in from Woodstock with Stephen Stills to appear on the show) who have gladly hung in with her ALL these years. If you like Joni's music lately you owe it to yourself to get this album...you'll fall in love with her music all over again every time you listen to it. TheStuffologist
It's hard to believe that almost 40 years have past since I first listened to BLUE. There are some things (subjects) explored here that now seem trite and maybe naive, but most of the material has a timeless quality to it. It's too bad that most of the selections a have a "sameness" of sound to them, but there are some nuggets of pure gold on this recording that have an equally "timeless" quality to them. Listen and enjoy.
I am very impressed by Joni Mitchell. Her music brings tears and is truly meaningful with her lyrics. She is a poet and a musician and has a great voice. I truly enjoy listening to her sing.

Blue is one of the great albums of its era, which allows it to transcend its era. Its influence on later writers/performers is probably immeasurable. I had lost touch with it because I only had the original, very worn vinyl. Great to re-encounter it now on CD. Especially as an older person and at the moment when Joni herself is re-emerging.
