This album of songs was the best bargain for your money at the time it originally came out 25 years ago. Personally, I still love the concept of the album - the cover alone was like having a work of art in your home. This collection of songs, as we all know. was hit after hit. It's enjoyable to hear the commentary of the producers of the recordings. Quincy Jones provided the forum for Michael to go beyond even his own expectations of artistic and commercial success. However, I am unimpressed by the remakes of these original gems. Although it's always a tribute to sing the song of any artist's hit(s) and fun to put one's own spin on it, nothing can touch the original. In fact, the new and "revised" versions included on the 25th anniversary edition have pasturized the music to a generic formula sound. It's clear that these were added to pick up sales appealing to a generation unaware of Michael Jackson's genius and landmark achievement. It's great to explore the options, versions and remakes of any song but Michael's ability to submit to the music, every turn, inflection and nuance are what make these songs hits. You don't have to be capable of doing what he does (did) to appreciate and realize this artistry, talent and true interpretation of each work. You simply feel it, like a heartbeat and are compelled to move to it. Lisa Vazzana Las Vegas, Nevada August 2009Read full review
This album includes such catchy pop classics as "Beat It" and "Billie Jean." This is Michael Jackson at his finest, and the music he made will live on. Everything about this album is outstanding, and having the physical media really puts the listener in the right mood. The artwork and photographs set the stage, and allow you to follow the lyrics. The mixing and overall technical quality is as good as it gets. The songs reflect a wide range of human emotions, from upbeat to sadness. Having the added material included with this 25th anniversary edition is nice. It was interesting to hear how some of the songs would sound in more modern times twenty-five years later with will.i.am, Akon, Fergie, and Kanye West, although I much preferred the originals. I cannot believe that "For All Time" was not originally included, but my guess is that this somehow did not fit the theme of the album, which originally included only nine tracks. What can I say about the videos? Michael Jackson was a true showman and entertainer, and his dance moves will likely never be duplicated. He is missed, yet his music lives on.Read full review

I'm delighted with this CD/DVD set! This was the only package to my knowledge that included MJ's groundbreaking live performance of "Billie Jean" from the Motown 25th Anniversary TV special. I happened to be walking by a TV set while the show was airing, and I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Michael perform this. It was one of the greatest performances in Rock n' Roll history! The DVD also includes high quality videos of "Beat It", "Billie Jean", and the entire "Thriller" mini-film. The CD has incredible sound plus extras not on the original "Thriller" CD.
