Walthers Proto # 920-584408 Replacement Geared Driver Assembly Early HO Scale
Oct 06, 2021
If you have a Life-Like Proto loco that won't run, hops or clicks you most likely need these replacement gears.
For anyone with a Life-Like Proto 2000 EMD GP / BL /FA or Proto 1000 RS / RSC / F3 model that won't run because of cracked gears these replacement gear sets are the quickest way to get your loco running again. I don't know how many locos Life-Like sold with the wrong grade of plastic for the gear-cogs, but there must be tens of thousands of now-dud locos sitting around. BTW you need to watch a video showing just how to get the gearbox cover off to replace the gears - it took me a while to work it out. You can't just lever it off, but it is simple when you see how. It would be a good idea to get some appropriate lubricants so when you do replace the gears while you still have the covers off you can re-lubricate the drive train and the axle and motor bearings. BTW there is a different set of replacement wheels for the old P2K E6/7/8/9 6-axle cab units.

Gainesville Midland and Her Sister Short Lines by Douglas van Veelan Hardback/DJ
Dec 05, 2019
Great book on the Gainesville Midland, and a great resource for rural branchline modellers.
Great book. Not a picture book, but a narrative history. But full of useful track plans for GM stations, junctions and locations. Seek out this book if you are modelling a rural branchline in the South!
Italeri #2702 1/48 CR 42 Falco ''Aces''

Italeri 1/48 Fiat CR 42 Italian early WW2 Biplane Fighter Kit
On the plus side, the Fiat CR 42 was an important early WW2 aircraft, and I think it is the only all-plastic injection moulded kit in 1/48 scale, and the quality of the mouldings and decals is good. But on the downside, the design of the kit is such that it is difficult to get the engine and cowling assembly properly aligned, and very difficult to fit the top wing and its supporting struts to the lower wing and fusalage and have everything line up correctly.
