By December last year, I reached my breaking point. I wanted a breather.
Crying whenever he didn’t get his own way, he even did it in front of my sister.
‘I feel I have bad karma,’ he’d whine. ‘It always happens to me.’
‘Why don’t we stick to seeing each other once a week?’ I said. ‘Go on dates – that way we can look forward to seeing each other.’
‘I’d get bored and cheat on you,’ Ben snapped back.
Is that who you really are? I thought.
And afterwards Ben went completely off the radar for the next few weeks, ignoring me.
He’d left me with his dog, too!
And popping back into my life a couple weeks later, he couldn’t say why he disappeared.
‘I’m doing a HGV course, so I can get us a house,’ he said.
‘Don’t do it for us, do it for yourself,’ I kept telling him.
