About this audiobook
An erotic novel of discipline, love, and surrender for the enjoyment of men and women.
This sequel to The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, the first of Anne Rice's elegantly written volumes of erotica, continues her explicit, teasing exploration of the psychology of human desire. Now Beauty, having indulged in a secret and forbidden infatuation with the rebellious slave Prince Tristan, is sent away from the Satyricon-like world of the Castle. Sold at auction, she will soon experience the tantalizing punishments of "the village," as her education in love, cruelty, dominance, submission, and tenderness is turned over to the brazenly handsome Captain of the Guard. And once again Rice's fabulous tale of pleasure and pain dares to explore the most primal and well-hidden desires of the human heart.
Read by Genvieve Bevier and Winthrop Eliot.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The second book in the Beauty trilogy, Beauty has been sentenced to The Village. She has been warned of dire consequences, horrible punishments, and she can't wait. The writing is charming, the sex is stylized and fairly erotic, and the story...well, who really cares about the story?

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5An interesting take on the world of erotica and bsdm by rice.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Author: Anne RicePublished By: PlumeAge Recommended: AdultReviewed By: Arlena DeanBook Blog For: GMTARating: 4Review:"Beauty's Punishment" by Anne Rice is a sequel from book one: The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" where we find it is another 'steamy erotica' read of how 'Beauty and Prince Tristan' survive in 'The Village' that is told to you in first and third person. Now, let me stop here and say if you haven't read the first book and not open to erotica, bdsm, fantasy, fairy tales, sexuality ....STOP! The read wouldn't be of interest at all to you. This novel is not for the faint of heart so be aware of this. OK, continuing on.."Beauty's Punishment" is of her being "punished for having rebelled against Prince Tristan....where she is auctioned, captivated and subjected to some of the most erotic, cruel and tantalizing games of domination and submission." I will stop and this point and say to find out any more about this read you must pick up "Beauty's Punishment" to see how this author puts it all together for the reader in this fairy tale. Ms. Rice works really well at illustrating all of this to the reader even presenting some twist and turns really making this a intriguing read. Believe me when I say you once you start will be kept reading just to see what is coming next. (At least it was for me). It really amazes me how this author was able to recraft this fairy tale into a adult fantasy series...leaving me only to say WOW! If you are into this read and one who enjoys what Ms. Rice has to offer in her Trilogy reads ...Bravo....Would I recommend this to you? ...only YES if this type of book is of interest to YOU!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I don't find Rice's three-part foray into erotica to be especially compelling. Aside from a few titillating episodes, there is far too much spanking and whining and little else - I actually found myself getting BORED and frustrated, wanting to scream if I read Beauty's exclaiming ONE MORE TIME "Oh, I'm a bad, bad little girl"! I realize that in a work of this nature one should probably not expect much as far as plot and character development go, and as a reader who typically looks for those things in a work of fiction, I found these books quite difficult to get through. I would have to disagree with the comment on the back cover which asserts that in these novels Rice masterfully plumbs the psychological depths of human sexuality.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this second book. It was very erotic. Not only do you learn what happeneds to Beauty but you get to learn about Tristan aswell and his punishment. Its just like the book says; its a story about disciplin, love and surrender. You follow Beauty's story and learn what leads to her kidnapping from the village. This book was great and well worth the read. Keep in mind if you MUST be into BDSM and completely open minded about sexual experiences in order to enjoy this wonderful book. I completely LOVED it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I came across references to these books for years, my interest was piqued. I came across a copy of the second volume in the trilogy and decided to read the novel. I will say that Rice can write well, a fairly simple story told entertainingly, however, bdsm is not my thing. Personally, I like to keep things simple and to the point.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This whole series is excellent. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for something a little naughty...if you're a bit of a stick in the mud, I would probably skip this series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5If you're interested in erotica or fairy tales, pick this up. This one's a tiny bit repetitive if you've read the first one, but not badly.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Beauty leaves the castle in order to fulfill a period of service in the village. Prince Tristan joins her there and the reader is privy to his experiences as well. Tristan's chapters are written in the first person, while the rest of the book is told in the third person. It's a little disconcerting, but not confusing at all. The final chapter of the tale was quite compelling and really left a reader excited for the sequel.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In a way this book was better than the first in the trilogy. It was maybe more exciting, but I would have liked there to be more Beaty's point of views than Tristan's. On okay book though and it got better towards the end and now I can't wait to read the next book.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The first installation on the series, The Claiming Of Sleeping Beauty, was very good. It was novel and captivating. It also ends in such a way that the I couldn't wait to start Beauty's Punishment, the next installment.I should have waited, or put it off all together. The best summary I can manage without wasting too much of my time is to say this: the continuation is trite, boring, uninspired at best, infuriatingly incompetent at worst.Beauty being a petulant twit in the first book is understandable- she's new and used to being treated like a princess. How she manages to not wise up and quit the babe in the woods routine is beyond me. It's certainly not sexy, just ridiculous.Do yourself a favor and stop with the first book.
