About this audiobook

New York Times bestselling author Dorothea Benton Frank takes readers on a rollicking ride in this Lowcountry tale about a woman whose unconventional friends and family show her the real meaning of unconditional love.

Anna Lutz Abbot considers herself independent and happy—until one steamy summer when her collegiate daughter comes home a very different person, her wild and wonderful ex-husband shows up on her doorstep, and her flamboyant new best friend takes up with Anna’s father.
And the already hot temperatures are cranked up another ten degrees by Anna’s own fling with Arthur, who is, heaven help her, a Yankee.

Now Anna must face the fact that she isn’t as in control of her life as she’d thought. And she must find a way to deal with the whole truth—not just the comfortable parts.

The first book I picked up was Reunion Beach. When I read the book had been written in memory of Ms. Frank, I stopped reading it and began a quest to locate all her books and read them in order. When my life gets busy, and the current book has to sit on the shelf, I listen here. That was a year ago this week. On to Bull's Island with a smile for who I'll meet next and with much appreciation. And, in my little way, to help keep her memory alive.

I don’t know how these types of nooks are classified
Are they chick lit, women’s beach books or just fiction, but this was an entertaining book, and a great story, about second chances, family and loneliness.
I will definitely read others from this author.

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this book. However, I felt the entire date-rape and resulting pregnancy scenario was dealt with way to casually; and the ending relating to that part of the story made me want to throw the book across the room.

I'll definitely be giving her other books a try, but I hope they handle sensitive, serious topics in a slightly better fashion. Or just leave out the serious stuff altogether, to make it a perfect beach read.

The characters in this Lowcountry novel reminded me of the characters in Sullivan's Island. Where they give you feeling of being just slightly over the top. The story was better though. There was more substance to it and the storyline was a little more interesting, even if I didn't like the cast.

I even laughed twice whie reading this book. Dorothy Benton Frank tells a delightful story with likeable characters.

I really liked this story because she did what I would love to do, get a house by the ocean-own her own business-have good friends and family-romance. The ending seemed to go on forever though.7/29/04
