About this audiobook
Dawn Schiff is strange.
At least, everyone thinks so at Vixed, the nutritional supplement company where Dawn works as an accountant. She never says the right thing. She has no friends. And she is always at her desk at precisely 8:45 a.m.
So when Dawn doesn't show up to the office one morning, her coworker Natalie Farrell―beautiful, popular, top sales rep five years running―is surprised. Then she receives an unsettling, anonymous phone call that changes everything…
It turns out Dawn wasn't just an awkward outsider―she was being targeted by someone close. And now Natalie is irrevocably tied to Dawn as she finds herself caught in a twisted game of cat and mouse that leaves her wondering: who's the real victim?
But one thing is incredibly clear: somebody hated Dawn Schiff.
Enough to kill.
The Coworker is a tense, unputdownable thriller from New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden that explores the dark ways the past can echo through the present―with deadly consequences.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a thrilling and entertaining read. The plot twists and unexpected turns keep readers engaged, and the well-developed characters add depth to the story. The narration is praised for its skillful delivery. However, some reviewers found the talk about turtles and the format of the emails to be annoying. Despite these minor flaws, the book is highly recommended for fans of the author's previous works and those who enjoy suspenseful thrillers. Overall, it is a page-turner with a satisfying ending.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is the third Freida McFadden book I have read. While I love her slow burn approach I struggled with this one but once it got going it was great! As always she was two steps ahead!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I must say I did not enjoy this novel as much as McFadden's others, but it was entertaining.
The thing she does best is the "twisty endings. always a good twist. It leaves you with a taste of the macabre, when the innocent is not all that innocent, where the underdog may not be as "under" as you think.
I truly enjoy this author's novels, it just that this one wasn't as good as her others. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Well written narrative & keeps you guessing at first but the idea of the whole plot is a bit messed up. Only one thing is for certain with McFadden's books, noone is ever what they seem & murderes, liars and cheats somehow get away with it! Narrator was really good.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Fun read with great twists! She can deliver a gasp and laugh in the same sentence.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Super slow to get into but the ending is good.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Didn’t find any of the characters likable, but overall it was a fun, quick read!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love all her books! Definitely one to listen to!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Top! I will never look at turtles the same way again ?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Freaking awesome! Quick listen! Really well done with all the twists in the end!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoy Freida as an author. The narrator is so hilarious! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Freida does it again. My favorite part about her books is that I think I know the plot and then I’m thrown loop after loop with shock.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pretty interesting and didn’t see a lot of the surprises coming. I liked the characters.
Did feel like the ending was a last minute twist that was unnecessary and not well thought out. Just felt a little cheap - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not as good as Freida’s other books and the plot didn’t develop enough throughout the book to keep me super interested
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Never disappointed by Frida Mcfadden books. Always full of people making strange and terrible choices
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A little slow in the beginning, but it sucked me in. Another great book from this author!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A slowburn but definitely worth it. It’s effectivity to tackle bullying and the complexities of girlhood.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not my favorite book. Drawn out just too much to get to actual "story"
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Do not waste your time with this one. It dragged.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A little long winded but the twist is worth it
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good story, interesting characters. The narrator did a great job with the character of dawn.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The path of the characters in the separate parts of the book were meticulously written. The voice of Dawn as a (potentially) neurodivergent woman was accurate and exciting to listen to. Well done.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5???
This about sums up the majority of the book. Meh - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very good. You never know the ending. Can't stop listening, love it
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a great read. Did not expect the twists even at the very end of the book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Chile!! Dawn and these turtles!! Was so innocent until…. Natalie made me mad the whole book especially at the end!!! Ugh
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The happiest ending of all her books so far. A reminder people don't change
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Terrible narration. Book was ok besides the very annoying email read backs.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Highly recommend! Although I had it figured out before the big reveal - process of elimination- I really enjoyed the book. It was a great companion on the lonely road between Tucson and Phoenix.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So good! Twisted and so well written. Unexpected development that you would never had guessed.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was OK. The RE emails were annoying and the narrator was a bit monotone and robotic at times. Not one of her better books
