About this audiobook

A New York Times Bestseller

“A smart, edge-of-your-seat story with plot twists you’ll never see coming. Stacy Willingham’s debut will keep you turning pages long past your bedtime.” —Karin Slaughter

When Chloe Davis was twelve, six teenage girls went missing in her small Louisiana town. By the end of the summer, her own father had confessed to the crimes and was put away for life, leaving Chloe and the rest of her family to grapple with the truth and try to move forward while dealing with the aftermath.

Now twenty years later, Chloe is a psychologist in Baton Rouge and getting ready for her wedding. While she finally has a fragile grasp on the happiness she’s worked so hard to achieve, she sometimes feels as out of control of her own life as the troubled teens who are her patients. So when a local teenage girl goes missing, and then another, that terrifying summer comes crashing back. Is she paranoid, seeing parallels from her past that aren't actually there, or for the second time in her life, is Chloe about to unmask a killer?

From debut author Stacy Willingham comes a masterfully done, lyrical thriller, certain to be the launch of an amazing career. A Flicker in the Dark is eerily compelling to the very last page.

It was good, but way too long. I got tired of waiting to see who the killer was and googled the ending and I usually NEVER do that!

This was one of the best books of its kind that I've "read" in a long time. It had me guessing the whole way through. I came close, but not quite. The writing was fantastic as was the narration!

I always think I can predict the twists and turns, and often do, but this story had me suspecting everyone at one point or another and can happily and humbly admit I truly did not see it coming. 8.7/10

The reader was amazing but the main character/first person narration was sort of cheesy and cliche.

It was a good book with great twists and a good plot. However I am rating it at a two because of the uncanny resemblance to “The Locked Door” by Frieda McFadden. It was like I was reading the same exact book with a couple of different twists. I was left feeling like I wasted my time reading it.

Really good read! The main character was a bit obnoxious for me but not too much that I couldn’t read her perspective. VERY twisty, turny until the very end! Author does a great joke making sure to tie up all loose ends as well. And there are a lot. It’s a good read for sure.

I guessed the culprit less than halfway through the book, which wouldn't be a big deal, but the motives fell flat for me. However, it was engaging.

I enjoyed this book and the narrator. A great mystery with lots of twists! For some reason it is downloaded at 22 hours when it is actually 11 so it would repeat chapters.

I liked the story and I suggest you read it however you should know that there are a few mistakes that could bother you. It is obvious the author did not research Louisiana before including Breaux Bridge and Baton Rouge for the setting, as there were glaring errors about the geography and culture. The story was good but it dragged on too long. Also, the author contradicted herself when she said that the accused agreed to take the police to the bodies because throughout the rest of the story she maintains the bodies were never found. The narrator uses an annoyingly inaccurate country accent to portray Louisiana characters.
