A Black sheriff. A serial killer.
A small town ready to combust.
Titus Crown is the first Black sheriff in the history of Charon County, Virginia. In recent decades, quiet Charon has had only two murders. But after years of working as an FBI agent, Titus knows better than anyone that while his hometown might seem like a land of moonshine, cornbread, and honeysuckle, secrets always fester under the surface.
Then a year to the day after Titus’s election, a school teacher is killed by a former student and the student is fatally shot by Titus’s deputies. As Titus investigates the shootings, he unearths terrible crimes and a serial killer who has been hiding in plain sight, haunting the dirt lanes and woodland clearings of Charon.
With the killer’s possible connections to a local church and the town’s harrowing history weighing on him, Titus projects confidence about closing the case while concealing a painful secret from his own past. At the same time, he also has to contend with a far-right group that wants to hold a parade in celebration of the town’s Confederate history.
Charon is Titus’s home and his heart. But where faith and violence meet, there will be a reckoning.
Powerful and unforgettable, All the Sinners Bleed confirms S. A. Cosby as “one of the most muscular, distinctive, grab-you-by-both-ears voices in American crime fiction” (The Washington Post).

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a suspenseful and thrilling murder mystery novel. The story is well-written with strong character development. The narrator's performance is highly praised. While some readers found it slow-paced and lacking a big surprise, overall, it is a great story that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. The book explores social commentary and straddles the line between crime fiction and horror. It is a dark and gritty read with a touch of sadness and cruelty. Highly recommended for those who enjoy intense and emotional stories.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An excellent and gripping story that was also dark. I loved every minute of it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Latest tour-de-force production of this power duo. Each book (and audio version) gets better and the high bar was already in the stratosphere. WOW.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fantastic story! Very descriptive writing! I would listen to Adam Lazarre White narrate all day long!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is not second-hand, B-level schlock. S.A. Cosby is a master fiction writer, keeping it real with rich poetry and psychological insights into his characters insights worthy of Leo Tolstoy. He throws in a piece of art in almost every other sentence, an insight into culture and trauma and keeping going with ethics but pure reality. Some of the ugly tortuous stuff to kids was a bit much, but his flawed protagonist/hero truly had a beating heart, some bad add physical skills, and a mind of savvy and depth, and he cares, but he has all the side thoughts as the worst within yourselves. True artistry.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Complex, deep characters, beautifully written, great story. Highly recommend! Loved the narration.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an excellent book it kept me on the edge of my seat.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Tasting Virginia life including racial issues, still being alive. Loved the accents in the audio book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good read; you need a strong stomach for this one!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’d read dozens of books about this character, the first blank sheriff in the history of Charon County, Virginia. This is a tsunami of a mystery.
“Violence is a confession of pain.”
A beloved white teacher and representative of equality to his white and black students is murdered at a school shooting by a black student. And as shocking as this event is, it’s only the beginning ripping open the secrets and lies festering in the town. The racism it renews & reignites isn’t a surprise, but what comes next is ….for everyone. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Was a very good book didn’t want to stop listening.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a book you can’t put down. It’s was a little creepy and disturbing, but overall I loved it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was riveting and had me on the edge of my seat. Each chapter drew me in deeper and deeper I couldn't wait to listen to the next chapter. It was thought provoking and relatable. I loved it! ❤️❤️????
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is my first book by this author, and certainly not my last. The writing was so poetic that I sometimes forgot it was a deep south murder mystery. Mixed in with rooted racial issues and the good old Christianity people run to as an excuse. I didn't want to stop reading. This book is a work of art, and most likely, I will end up rereading it again.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very good from start to finish you won’t be disappointed
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5S. A. Cosby has me hooked. The story was a page turner and the narration was excellent.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It started out pretty strong but the whining girlfriend almost made me stop. It could have been a great book if he had focused on less characters. It made the story seemed to be all over the place.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a great writer this story took off in such a fantastic way and it just kept building and building. The author has a magical way of creating characters and a storyline that will have your head spinning trying to figure out how. This author is now an auto buy for me.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was just ok for me. It was slow which makes sense due to the setting being a small town. I just didn’t get a big surprise that I was hoping for. It was a build up for a soft landing.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dark, gritty, and twisted with fantastic poetic writing, great audio performance
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an emotional action packed story. It sucks you in an keeps you there, you can't help but to keep reading, to know the answer to questions at the end of chapters. It's cruel, sad, sadistic, an yet by the end you're just as relieved as Titus. I loved everyrhing about this book
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing murder mystery novel! Sheriff Titus is a black man who has sworn to serve and protect his home town full of characters and people whom he’s grown with.. although some southern pride of the Antebellum South era still lingers heavy. The deaths of 7 black girls and boys from the town shakes up the community and leaves a blurred line of justice seekers and “protectors.” The story is well written and character development was at a nice and steady pace. Great book and I recommend!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved it. SA Cosby is a new author for me, first time reading him and I was with him all the way. Thoroughly enjoyed him.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Titus struggles with the typical vicissitudes of life for Black men in small southern towns: overt racism, micro-aggressions, proving himself worthy of his position, and the normal life struggles of personal religion, relationships, an elderly parent, and all of that is topped by the emotional struggle that is being a police officer.
After a seemingly cut and dry border of a beloved teacher by a known drug addict, Titus is thrown into an unimaginable nightmare of a case. The investigation turns up bodies, sickening videos, and fingers pointing in so many directions that the whole town is turned upside down.
The story is edgy, relatable, relevant, disturbing, and beautifully written.
S.A. Cosby is true to immaculate form with this one. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Top 5 read of this year! S.A.Cosby has quickly become an automatic read for me The audio actor was amazing as well! The infliction and conviction he put into this was remarkable!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was OK. The voice is very monotone, and the story was super detailed, which I think made it a little bit boring at time, but overall a decent read
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another fantastic book by this author! Adam Lazzare-White was amazing as usual.
