      I liked this book a lot but it is heavy! Definitely needs a trigger warning for child abuse and addiction.

      Yes, I judged a book by its cover. I assumed this was going to be some lighthearted love story with the hopes of some steamy smut. 
      I was wrong. 
      It is a love story, but also a story about child abuse and neglect, domestic violence,  about secon  chances, the people who give them, why they do that, how to forgiv  both the offenders and the people who give them a chance... well... not an easy vacation read, which is what I was looking for.  Really glad I came across it.

      3.25 Stars for me!

      There is a lot to like about this story as it relates to family and the impact of alcoholism.

      The reason for a 3 star rating is that I had a very difficult time liking the h. She shut out anyone that she had issues with and refused to get the full story. As an 18 year old, it is somewhat expected. By your mid-20s, you should be able to act like a grown-up and verify the situation before you cast judgment. As a person who dealt with the aggressive attitude, it should have helped her avoid continuing the bad behavior.

      The H started out strong but also turns into a jerk as the story goes on. Add the mom's treacherous decisions, these lives all seem destined to fail.

      I'm not sure if I can finish the book because of the main character's childhood flashbacks.
