His mother, Gloria Reid-Johnson, was a primary school teacher and made him appreciate the value of learning and studying from his more tender years. After receiving a Government Scholarship for his performance in the 2002 GSAT Examinations, he began to attend Cornwall College. It was at that stage he began to realize the extra effort that was needed to complete homework and study assignments. In 2009, Canute received his acceptance letter from the University of the West Indies, Mona. Academically, his first two years were extremely challenging and he failed multiple courses. He began designing strategies to improve his learning and studying efficiency. His determination and creativity paid off because in 2013, he graduated from the U.W.I with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry with Second Class Honours. Canute realized he had to share his secrets for approaching learning and studying. Working at a book store on many occasions inspired him to share his secrets with students in the form of a book, but it was his experience relating to children as Vice President of the Hopewell Baptist Church Youth Fellowship and as a Camp Counsellor at Jamaica Baptist Union’s Junior Camp that helped him create “The Funny Thing About Homework”.view less
