She taught in one-room schools for over forty years. Susie wrote poetry and prose. She was interested in American history, especially pioneer days, and she was a keen observer of human behavior, the beauty of flowers, and all natural life. A devout Christian, much of her work is laced with her philosophy of life. Susie wrote on pieces of paper she found lying around the house, and so much of her poetry and prose has been lost or destroyed. Only a small number of her poems remain for publication.view less
