He started his training around the age of seven while living in Japan. Bob studied several forms of martial arts while growing up in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific. Bob studied Mechanical Engineering at University of Hawaii and competed in full-contact karate tournaments. At the same time, he devoted a considerable amount of time to studying fighting techniques with swords, knives, and other improvised edged weapons.
In 1980, Bob joined a circus as an acrobat and knife thrower. From 1980 to 1994, he toured North America and Asia as an entertainer. Bob often supplemented his circus paycheck by working as a short-contract bodyguard in Southern California and Southeast Asia. During the middle to late eighties, Bob worked on several TV shows and movies as a stuntman and equipment designer; he also spent three years as a trainer and equipment designer for the TV show Circus of the Stars. In 1986, Bob was the knife handler and throwing instructor for Anthony Michael Hall in the movie Out of Bounds. In 1994 he was the stuntman and knife thrower on the music video “Soul to Squeeze” with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
By 1995, Bob had left show business and entered law enforcement. He spent three years as an officer with an Arizona State SWAT (TSU) team’s HRT, where he earned numerous awards. Bob earned the position of sniper on the SWAT team and the status of #2 overall rifle shot in the state of Arizona. He began teaching less-lethal weapon deployment, firearms, and use of force. Bob also wrote training manuals for SWAT (TSU) units in the state of Arizona.
From 1997 to 2004, Bob worked with several law enforcement agencies in the state of Wisconsin. He spent several years as a ranger with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
In 2004, Bob and his family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was hired by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department. Bob is currently assigned to the Electronic Monitoring Division and also holds a position on the special response team and task force one dive team.
Seaton holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and has taught wilderness survival at the University of Wisconsin Madison. He has certifications as a martial arts and law enforcement instructor.view less
