How to be a Mentalist: Time Flies

About this ebook
,A mentalism, mind reading and magic routine that has five separate moments of pure amazement. Indeed one could argue that it is in fact a professional demonstration of mentalism and magic involving five effects in one extended routine.
As in my other publications – the main advantage of studying this – is the video links. There is a live demonstration of performance and a detailed video explanation. This in effect is equivalent to getting a free DVD.
A spectator thinks of a time and a card. Another spectator winds a watch blindly to a random time. The mentalist determines the time - while the thought of card disappears from the spectators hand. The card is found under the watch. When the watch is turned over - the second spectator has inexplicably wound the watch to the time that the first spectator thought of.
Some professional performers may take exception to me offering this material to the general population. It is true that such material is usually offered by specialist dealers to magicians and mentalists at very high prices. The authors view – like in his previous work – is that people who are willing to put the time in and have a real interest deserve quality material. All to often – the magic and mentalism offered to “muggles” is of poor quality and of little entertainment value.
Time Flies has great entertainment value and has an absolutely stunning affect on the audience. Some people may decide to just use part of the routine. That is fine. But it has been designed in such a way that it builds - each revelation becoming stronger and stronger until the final devastating climax.

How to be a Mentalist - Ian McCoy
Introduction
As I have said in my previous publications, a mentalist is a magician of the mind. And like a good magician he/she creates a sense of wonder, amazement and awe in an audience. But whereas a magician appears to do the impossible – the mentalist does the very unlikely – the extremely unlikely. For this reason mentalism appears more real than traditional magic. People believe there is more than mere trickery going on. They go away seeing your performance as something no one could do by magic tricks
.
Because of the popularity of psychics
most people are aware of the apparent ability of some people to read minds
and discover information which they should not know by normal means. I have discussed this elsewhere – but suffice to say that most psychics are fraudulent – either deliberately – or a result of self delusion.
Most mentalists do not claim to have psychic ability. Some do – and I believe this is a shame. Others present their routines as a magician – happy to inform people that it is all illusion and trickery. This performer/author prefers to present his mentalism – not as magic
- but as psychological illusion
which uses a number of techniques – including body language, suggestion, psychology and magic techniques. This leaves things a little more open –
