About this ebook
While visiting Mr. Whittaker at Whit’s Soda Shoppe, Beth and Patrick find a mysterious letter in the Imagination Station requesting a Viking sunstone. The letter is old and says that someone named Albert will be imprisoned if the sunstone isn’t found. Mr. Whittaker sends cousins Patrick and Beth to Greenland circa 1000. On their quest for the sunstone, the cousins meet Vikings Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson—and find the sunstone as they join Leif on his first voyage to North America. But the adventure is just beginning, for when they return to Mr. Whittaker’s workshop with the sunstone, there is another note waiting for them, requesting a silver goblet.
Join Patrick and Beth as they continue their travel to various lands and time in the Imagination Station book series.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Written for children but also exciting enough to keep an adult's interest. Beth and Patrick travel to Viking times to find a Sunstone. While they are there, they get to experience firsthand what they've learned in history class. They meet Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson. They also get to experience a bit about how Christianity was viewed in Greenland at the time.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Adventure Book For Your Kids I am always looking for good fun books that kids will enjoy and want to read and with this book Voyage with the Vikings The Imagination Station book 1 by Marianne Hering and Paul McCusker I have found just that. It is also a series so it will keep your kids busy reading for awhile. I like the fact that the book has adventure, history and is a Christian book that you don't have to worry about kids reading. I think the kids will love the adventure and not even realize they might be learning about history too in this book. Beth wants to show her cousin Patrick the Imagination Station so they go to see Mr Whittaker's. He says the station isn't working, but when the two step in, it starts to work. A letter appears and it says Albert is trapped and they have to find a Viking sunstone. Beth and Patrick want to help so they take the Imagination Station back in time to the Vikings to find the sunstone. Will Beth and Patrick be able to find the sunstone, retrieve it and get back to the Station and home? Will Leif Erikkson help them find it or will his Dad Erik the Red harm them? Will they be able to get the sunstone and help Albert? You will have to read the book to find out. I enjoyed this book even at my age. I think the quest will be great fun for your kids and they will want to read this book and the rest of them too. It is a great book for kids age 6 to 10 they will really enjoy reading this book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I recently received Voyage with the Vikings from Tyndale house to read and review. This is the first book in the Imagination Station series. The imagination station is a time machine that a local inventor has at his workshop. The machine transports the children back in time to Greenland in the year 1000 during the time of the Vikings. They learn a lot as they work together to find a mysterious item called the sandstone that they must retrieve before going back home. The book shows how doing the right thing may be hard, but it is always the right choice. The book ends with another mystery that must be solved which leads into the next book of the series. The other books in the series are: Attack at the Arena (book 2), Peril in the Palace (book 3), and Revenge of the Red Knight (book 4). This series is recommended for children ages 7 and up. I really enjoyed reading Voyage with the Vikings. This series would be great for a child to read on his own or to read it together as a family. The plot was laid out well and the mystery makes you desire more. I thought the ending was great in that it led to another mystery to be solved in the next book. The books not only teach history, but they also teach good moral principles too. I would highly recommend this series to anyone with children 7 and up. This would also be a great series to encourage kids who are not excited about reading. I think it would keep their attention and show them that reading can be fun!**I received a complimentary copy of this book from Tyndale House Publishers in an exchange for an honest review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Wonderful chapter reader for children! If your children like the Adventure in Odyssey series they will love this book of adventure and excitement. Children are quickly drawn into a lively tale of viking adventures. They meet Leif Erikson and are set out on a mission to fine a sunstone before he sets sail with the Imagination Station on board - will they make it? The story is well-written and easy to read. My oldest boy was so excited to receive it in the mail and could not wait to begin reading. The children are confronted with many challenges and opportunities to share about God when they meet Erik the Red. Erik is angry about the new god that challenges his current beliefs. However the story has a redemptive and happy ending. Faith and courage prevail as is always the case in Adventures in Odyssey. I love the fact that children are absorbing good morals and values without even realizing it - for once the parent doesn't have to be the only one stating these things. Children are invited to see what these things are in action.
Excellent book. Thank you Tyndale for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Voyage with the Vikings is twaddle. (I mean this in the nicest possible way.) This book is overly simplistic in it's language, plot, historical elements, and Christian message. It lacks rich, descriptive language; abounds in sentence fragments; and has an incredibly predictable plot. A child could spend ten minutes perusing a picture book on the Vikings and glean just as much factual, historical information.Perhaps the most disappointing facet of this book was its "Christian" message. It mentions Jesus Christ and God. It states that there is one God and references "the God of the cross" (pg. 94). The moral of the book is that Christians should be kind to their enemies: "Erik was mean to you. But you showed him kindness. That's just like God. He shows us kindness even when we don't deserve it" (pg. 106). However, there is no clear presentation of the Gospel in this book, and it is devoid of Scripture. If you're looking for a book your child can read easily that is "clean", you'll probably enjoy this book. However, if you're trying to avoid twaddle, steer clear of this book. There is much better reading material on the market! A child may enjoy this book just as a child enjoys junk food, but a steady diet of this sort of writing will ruin a child's appetite for fine literature and deep, thought-provoking writing.*Many thanks to Tyndale House Publishers for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Families familiar with Focus on the Family’s wildly popular Adventures in Odyssey series of audio adventures will be thrilled by the release of a new series of ‘ready-for-chapters’ style books that will spur emerging readers on towards reading fluency. Voyage with the Vikings is the first in this new series of short chapter books (rated at a 1.7 Flesch-Kincaid grade level) that follows cousins Beth and Patrick in their time-traipsing adventures in the Imagination Station.Filled with non-stop adventure, the cousins’ adventures take them to Greenland where they meet the historic figures Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson in the year 1000 A.D. After my daughter (7) read this chapter book, she dug out the “V” volume of our encyclopedias to learn more about Vikings, added Erik and Leif to her timeline notebook, and visited the book website to really dig into the topic. It was a delight to see her so excited about a book! Homeschooling families looking for an easy reader to ignite an interest in their children about Vikings should definitely put this title on their list! This is also a great way to engage reluctant readers; the book doesn’t allow for any pauses in the action, it’s one exciting event after another, keeping young readers engaged and on their toes. After reading the book there is a puzzle in the back to solve. The resulting secret code can be redeemed at the book website for a free Adventures In Odyssey recording – a bonus my Odyssey loving daughter greatly enjoyed. As a bonus, these titles are extremely affordable; they are great for any adventure-loving boy or girl. My daughter INSISTS that I give this title five stars.Reviewed at quiverfullfamily.com

Whit’s End
9781589976276_0011_001It all began on a Monday.
Beth and her cousin Patrick were at Whit’s End. It was a soda shop in a large, old house. Kids thought Whit’s End was the best place in town for ice cream.
But there was a lot more to Whit’s End than scoops and cones. It had more rooms than Patrick could count.
Down the hallway was a radio studio. And a theater to perform plays.
