About this ebook

Dyed, pierced, and covered in tattoos, Wren Blanchard is the exact opposite of everything Dr. Lee Hawthorne thought he wanted.

His residency is almost finished. With the perfect job, the beautiful house, and the polished girlfriend, he knows he should be happy, yet he isn't.

But once Wren lands in his ER with her sharp tongue and artist’s soul, she leaves a mark on him that just won’t fade.

Wren knows the good doctor is way out of her league. To people like him, she's a circus freak. Besides, she's not the type to get hung up on guys, especially ones with midnight blue eyes—ones who know all about antiques, crack bad jokes, and love Joss Whedon.

No. She doesn't need that.

After all, she has friends, a psychotic cat, and a promising career as one of the best tattoo artists in town. And it’s enough.

Really, it is.

Or it would be if Lee weren’t there every time she turned around.

One kiss seals their fate.

Their attraction is undeniable--but Wren’s past is full of ghosts. Is their bond strong enough for a solid future? Or will their new relationship crumble beneath the weight of all she carries?

It's been a few months since I read a good New Adult romance and this immediately piqued my interest because I love stories about tattoo artists (I really loved the quirky Tattoo Shop Mysteries by Karen E. Olsen!). Wren is a sassy, no-nonsense tattoo artist, whose love for art is showcased by using her skin (and those she tattoos) as canvas. To say she's had a rough childhood is an understatement but as long as she has her Grandma Gigi, best friend, Cherise, and adorable cat Agnes she can get along fine. Until she can't. After a long day in the tattoo shop she collapses and is rushed to the emergency room and has to immediately have life saving surgery. Dr. Lee Hawthorne finds himself smitten with the beautiful girl covered into tattoos and does his best so that no scars show on her art. He's so smitten that he even drives her to her apartment, helps her up the stairs, and cleans the kitty litter! There's only one problem. He's got a serious girlfriend. He's played his whole life safe but he's finding that it's lacking, is Wren the kind of women that he wants to spend his life with? Can he break past her barriers? Even the the doctor and the tattoo artist couldn't be more different they find they have more in common then meets the eye. Are they willing to fight for each other? Do they even have a chance? Many serious issues like addiction, sexual abuse, pedophilia, and child neglect are discussed. A definite must read for new adult fans, hot but not too steamy (only 2 major bedroom scenes, basically just the right amount!).I received this book for free from the publisher in return for my honest, unbiased opinion.

This was a sweet story. The problems with it were a few grammatical errors and there could have been a little more time spent in editing. I'll probably end up reading this one again and plan on looking into her other books.

This is a great read. Maybe a little dark but the romance is still for front. I would give this a 4star but I only had 1star available (?).

This book is awesome. I loved Lee and I was rooting for Wren from the beginning. Wren’s story was told with so much kindness and compassion that I just couldn’t wait to turn each page. I wanted Wren to find her way...with Lee...to health and happiness. And I so wanted her to choose to be with Lee. He was a wonderful character. Love is a wonderful thing.

I recently “discovered” This author. She writes with so much compassion for the human condition and the power of love. Love the setting and her love for her community and its charms. I’ve finished 3 of her books and have downloaded the 4th. Can’t wait to read it.

This is a really great book. I love Wren. She is funny and sarcastic. I love the description of the little thing tattooing these tough, huge bikers. Its so funny and cute! A tattooed, tiny, tough girl who is an artist and tattoos intimidating bikers and can hold her own, but still a big geek (she loves Joss Whedon— a girl after my own heart!).This story had substance. Its stretched out more than the normal romance story of them meeting, falling for each other, kissing, having sex, then getting together. Believe me, their is convincing and begging. And rejecting. And more begging and convincing. There is more in the story than just them liking each other. I would classify this as a novel with romantic undertones. The romance is in there, but not the MAIN focus. This isn't insta-love. There is an attraction between them right at first, but they don’t get together right like that. In fact, there are so many obstacles and she fights it and rejects him.***WARNING: There is some sexual child abuse— I want to say nothing too descriptive or horrific BUT I find ALL child abuse horrific***

An amazing book. I love, love, love a story with a ‘bad’ girl and a ‘good’ boy.
I really liked that Lee’s life wasn’t perfect and that he’s family had exceptions which Lee didn’t agree with. Furthermore the way Lee helped to Wren help herself, I loved it! It was so more realistic than if he just magically fixed everything for her. The only slightly negative was how the issues between Lee and his father’s exceptions resolved, like with a snap of the fingers, it ought to have filled a little more.
