- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5“Walace the Brave is a little taste of classic comics from the past.”—The Huffington PostWelcome to Snug Harbor! Will Henry’s Wallace the Brave is a whimsical comic strip that centers around a bold and curious little boy named Wallace, his best friend Spud and the new girl in town, Amelia. Wallace lives in the quaint and funky town of Snug Harbor with his fisherman father, plant loving mother and feral little brother, Sterling.Out October, 2017MY THOUGHTS:I received this book in exchange for my honest review.OMG I love Spud the best! This graphic novel is sure to make people laugh out loud. It’s silly, fun and hilarious. What up with those ears!!!!! lol. I absolutely love the artwork! The entire family dynamics centers around fun and laughter and comical situations they get themselves in. You can’t beat Will Henry’s art, it’s exactly what the text needs and vice versa, each helping the other to the conclusion of the plot. The stories are whimsical and fun and the story-lines hilarious and sometimes, tongue-in-cheek.I can honestly say that I HAVE NOT received a book from Andrews McMeel Publishing that I haven’t completely enjoyed. All their books are so good (so far). I highly recommend that you consider checking out this one if you’re in the mood for a few laughs.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A comic strip collection about 7ish- year-old Wallace, his family, and his friends. This is a tiny bit Peanuts and a good deal Calvin and Hobbes but all its own too. I loved every panel. The humor is exactly my sort of humor. I love the parents. They are Calvin's parents if they were a little less strict, a little more fun, and if Calvin engaged a little more fully with *their* humor. It's hard not to read them as a kind of response to Calvin's parents, but in a wonderful way. There's no friend only Wallace can see, but he does have a best friend--Spud. Spud has anxiety and he's never left out because of it. *loves* Spud and Wallace have a slightly antagonistic friendship with Amelia, a girl in their class, but there's never any reference to that antagonism springing from her being a girl. *loves* I suspect I will be reading this again and again.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I laughed out loud several times. Clearly in the spirit of Calvin & Hobbes. Good stuff.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was an absolutely hilarious comic collection. If you ever enjoyed reading the funny comics in the paper you'll get a lot of laughs out of this!
