About this ebook

God has sent us a supernatural gift. The gift was given to Jesus who passed it to the apostle John through an angel. John went on to relay this gift (a message from God to all believers) to us in the book of Revelation. The last book of the Bible focuses on Jesus and ties the entire Bible into a coherent story through which God shows us the things which are soon to take place.

This message is not junk mail or something to be disregarded. Our study will look at the book of Revelation in context with the rest of the Bible. Using the Bible, history, current events, and a few basic keys of Bible interpretation, we will unlock the meaning of the grand finale of God's word.

Do not fall into Satan's trap of thinking Revelation is too difficult or frightening to understand. We are promised a blessing by God for reading, hearing, and heeding the message in this book. It is my prayer that as a believer, you will be enlightened, comforted, and reassured by this study, and if you are an unbeliever, you will be convinced to change your mind and your eternal future by becoming a believer.

Dive in and receive your blessing!

    Blessed - Dennis Turnbough

    The Great Commission

And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matt. 28:18–20)

    Simple A, B, Cs

    Childlike Faith

And said, Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matt. 18:3)

God, our Father in heaven, is asking us to believe and trust in Him as a young child believes and trusts his parents.

    Gospel—Good News

That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Cor. 15:3–4)

AAdmit that you are a sinner

This is where godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against a righteous God, and there is a change of heart. We change our minds, and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out.

There is none righteous, not even one. (Rom. 3:10)

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23)

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:8)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 6:23)

B—Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised Jesus from the dead

That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Rom. 10:9–10)

C—Call upon the name of the Lord

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

For it is written, As I live says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God. (Rom. 14:11)

Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess, some to salvation and some to damnation. Which will it be in your case? We all have to decide for ourselves. Not deciding or delaying is a decision.

For Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Rom. 10:13)

It seems so easy, thank God! Congratulations if you are saved. If you are not saved yet, remember this invitation from God stands open to you at whatever time the Holy Spirit leads you to Christ. You can quickly return to these A, B, Cs and make the most important decision of your life. This, if sincere, can be done publicly or alone in your mind and heart.

Why Study/Understand the Book of Revelation

(God gave us this book to finish out His perfect plan for us)

We will use Scripture to interpret God’s word in this study.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen. 1:1)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 3:16–17)

The Bible consists of sixty-six books written by more than forty authors over a one-thousand-six-hundred-year time frame. The Old Testament has thirty-nine books, written approximately 1500–400 BC. The New Testament has twenty-seven books, written approximately AD 45–100. The harmony that exists throughout the Bible, given these circumstances, would have been unachievable were it not for the fact that God, through the Holy Spirit, is the author of it all. This conformity in the Word is a proof of God’s existence!

But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he can not understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. (1 Cor. 2:14)

For God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. (1 Cor. 14:33)

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity but of power and love and discipline. (2 Tim. 1:7)

Some choose not to study Revelation. They say it is too confusing or too frightening to study. God says confusion and fear are not from Him.

Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. (Rom. 13:11–14)

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near. (Rev. 1:1–3)

And he said to me, Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. (Rev. 22:10)

If we do not study Revelation, we are effectively sealing up the words of the prophecy. A bond servant is a servant by choice, so we should choose to study the entire Bible.

I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star. (Rev. 22:16)

Daniel tells us about the time of the end in Daniel 12. The time of the end closes the last days. The prophet Joel, in Joel 2:28–31, tells us that the last days began when the Spirit was poured out on the believers at Pentecost. Acts 2:16–20 verifies this fact/prophecy. Daniel 12:4 tells Daniel to shut up the words and seal the book (Daniel’s prophecy) until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase (descriptive of today). The time of the end is the conclusion of the last days. The seven years of the tribulation prophesied in Revelation are part of the last days. As we approach the time of the end, it is time for us to understand Daniel’s words, which were shut up and sealed, as they relate to Revelation.

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. (2 Tim. 2:15)

And then if anyone says to you, Behold, here is the Christ; or, Behold, He is there; do not believe him; for false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs and wonders, in order to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But take heed; behold, I have told you everything in advance. (Mark 13:21–23)

If we study and understand the Bible, including Revelation, we will not be led astray. If we avoid studying, including Revelation, we are susceptible to deception. Let’s call on the Holy Spirit to help us understand the grand finale of God’s word. God wants us to understand this book. Satan, the father of lies, tells us the book is too frightening or difficult to understand, so stay away from Revelation. Who are you going to listen to? If we were reading an intriguing novel, we would not think of not finishing the last chapter. It is in the last chapter that the complete story comes together and we gain the full understanding of the entire Bible
