The Island of Colors - Playful Friends
The Lost Rainbow
Once upon a time, in a far away place, there was a magical island called the Island of Colors. On that island, every day was as bright as a rainbow after the rain. The sky was always blue, the flowers were of every imaginable color, and the sea changed color depending on the day. But the most special thing about the island was the enormous rainbow that could be seen in the sky, every day, from morning to dusk.
One day, something very strange happened. The rainbow... had disappeared! The islanders couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Or rather, what they weren’t seeing. The sky was clear, but there was no rainbow. Everyone was very worried, as the rainbow was a very important part of the island. Without it, the colours on the island were slowly starting to fade.
In a small house near the beach lived three children: Ana, Luis and Sofia. All three of them loved to see the rainbow every day. When they realized that it had disappeared, they looked at each other, with surprised faces. We have to find it!
said Ana, who was the oldest of the three. Yes, without the rainbow, the island will not be the same,
added Luis, while Sofia nodded her head.
Determined, the three brothers set out to find the rainbow. First, they decided to go to the highest place on the island, Mount Brilliant. From there, they could see everything. Walking along the paths full of flowers, they reached the top. But when they looked up at the sky, there was no sign of the rainbow. They only saw some white clouds floating lazily.
Maybe the rainbow is hidden somewhere else,
said Sofia, a little dejectedly. We can't give up now,
replied Anna, encouraging her. Let's go ask the Great Sage of Colors. He lives in the cave near the river.
Without wasting any time, they went down the mountain and ran towards the river. When they arrived, they saw the entrance to the cave. It was a very peculiar cave because it was always shining with lights of different colors, as if the walls were made of precious stones. They entered slowly, and there, in the center of the cave, was the Great Sage of Colors. He was an old man with a long silver beard, and he was wearing a robe full of bright colors.
What brings you here, little ones?
the wise man asked in a soft voice.
Sir, the rainbow has disappeared, and we want to know if you know where it is,
Luis said, worried.
The Great Sage smiled slightly. Ah, yes. The rainbow. I know what happened. The rainbow is sad. No one has appreciated it for a long time. No one stops to admire its colors or thank it for beautifying the island. So it decided to hide.
Ana, Luis and Sofia looked at each other in surprise. But we love the rainbow! We look at it every day!
Sofia exclaimed.
That's true, little one. But the rainbow needs everyone on the island to appreciate it. Not just look at it, but remember that it's a gift from nature. If they want to bring it back, they have to do something special. They have to fill the island with bright colors, as if the rainbow had never left,
the wise man explained.
How do we do that?
Ana asked, intrigued.
Look in the Forest of Magical Flowers. There you will find flowers of all colors. Collect enough flowers and scatter their petals all over the island. That will make the rainbow happy, and perhaps he will decide to return,
said the wise man, winking.
The three brothers said goodbye to the Great Sage and ran towards the Forest of Magical Flowers. The forest was full of enormous flowers, with colors so bright that they almost seemed to shine in the sun. There were flowers as red as fire, blue as the sky, yellow as the sun, and green as the freshest grass.
Very carefully, the children began to collect petals from each flower. They had baskets filled with petals of all colors. When the baskets were completely full, they returned to the center of the island and began to scatter the petals in the air. It was as if they were painting the island with all the colors of the rainbow.
The islanders helped them. Everyone wanted the rainbow to come back. They threw petals into the wind, decorated the streets, and even the
